Tony Scott

http://www.guardian....t-director-dies

An underestimated director IMO who many seemed to think his films were overshadowed by those of his brother. I don't care what anyone says, Top Gun is a classic.

He made Hollywood films very well indeed.

Top Gun is a gay film with an Air Force subtext.

Don't you mean Navy? I don't think Top Gun was deliberately meant to be a gay film, just made to appeal to the fashions of the time.

I recall the 2 old blokes on the Muppets (not Eddie & Stevo) saying 'nearly as funny as Phyliss Diller'.

We had no idea who she was (no Google in them days) but it became a bit of an in-joke with my brothers. And still is I suppose.

Fortunately the council, like in most Lancashire towns, has long since upgraded the toilet facilities used by its residents. As long ago as 2008, it provided her with a replacement chain.

No more raindrops for Hal David

He leaves behind some of the absolute greatest popular songs ever written. A legend.

Michael Clarke Duncan, oh my god! Only 54. Best known probably for John Coffey in The Green Mile, but is in many more films.
