As a Saint i am not too downhearted about the season..Just when they got rid of Simmons, i didnt think we would have got above mid table..Rush and Keiron took over as temps, and have done as good a job as maybe another coach would have done..Rush doesnt want a full time first team job, but Keiron will still be there..So as said, i am not too down in the dumps............................SO YOU OTHER FANS..."WHATS PLEASED YOU OR NOT PLEASED YOU ABOUT YOUR CLUBS THIS YEAR "?

Pleased: To still have one.

Not Pleased: The conduct of the pathetic major shareholders, and all they collectively inflicted on the club. May they all go to hell.

Pleased, making the playoffs and almost knocking off Halifax.

Pleased

- the amount of young players being given a chance and making their first team debut

- having periods of dominance during the season and a more entertaining style of attacking rugby than under Maguire

Disappointments

- under performing when it mattered against Leeds

- failing to beat Warrington

- not managing a clean sweep of Saints due to individual stupidity

- the loss of some pivotal players that will be difficult to replace

Pleased:

Reasonable performances on the pitch, couple of good wins

Not Pleased:

Progress on a stadium

Too many heavy defeats

Could we have a Home cup draw against a decently supported SL side next year?

Pleased:

Gentle - Top guy. Top coach. Really coming together.

The promising young players that are coming through this year - Crooks, Bowden, Green, Kent to name the main. More in one year than Agar did in 4.

More entertaining tactics.

The chairman putting his money where his mouth is in terms if kicking out the deadwood and replacing them.

Belief that things will improve next year.

Not pleased:

Not a lot really. Maybe the midseason blip we had?

Pleased with;

the fact we finished top 4 after such a poor start

the fact we beat everybody at some point

the emergence of Josh Jones and continued improvement of Tommy Makinson

the crowds in our first season at Langtree Park

Disappointments;

Perry, Flannery, Hohaia, Meli - robbing better young English players of a starting place - only bring in Antipodeans that can do something the equivalents young Brit cannot

Uncertainty over next season's coaching situation

As a London supporter, this season's been a disaster with no sign of much better until we get an owner who understands RL and how to run a business ( Hughes makes his money as a one man band oil trader).

continued improvement of Tommy Makinson

Yep, he's such an asset....first time i noticed him was when you were beaten by leeds in last year's grand final.....thought he was your best player that day even though he'd seemingly popped up from nowhere.....this year he's grown in stature and received the recognition he deserves

Pluses - lots of wonderful wins, and emerging stars. Winning the league. Seeing players like Hughes, Dudson, Lloyd, Powell, Crosby etc show that they will be excellent players in the not too distant. Have really enjoyed it.

Negatives - not many. Wish we'd had Sam on Friday I suppose, because I think we are and have been the second best slide in the comp. Would have liked to play Wire when we were both on form.

Only plusses for me are seeing the very few young players from last season who actually got a look in once Simmons had been sacked, which constitutes two on a regular basis (and Makinson only because Gardner was injured long term). It was good to see a new face in Josh Jones.

But for me the season stopped being much in the way of enjoyable once Simmons had been sacked as I thought that was a big mistake, especially on behalf of the young players.

Really?

Saints fans do rewrite history! I think a draw is considered a win in some people's books.

Winning the Challenge Cup final

Reaching the Grand Final for the first time

Having strength in depth in the squad, if someone missed a game there would be a replacement who would do an equally good job

Lee Briers getting a haircut

Hasn't improved him, though! He still wants to referee the game.

So near yet so far for Wigan this season

Pleased

The performance of untried English coach John Wayne in his first season. League leading performance. Team's attack and defence stats.

Not pleased

Some players discipline, lack of concentration and patchy teamwork

Pleased: We still have a club

New owners appear to recognise the importance of building a relationship with those that hand over money (Fans!)

I didn't fall for the emotional "Pledge" appeal for money which I suspect went west - BUT pleased to give my money into the hardship fund buckets for those who lost their jobs!

Not pleased

Having my hopes shattered that my club was not run as portrayed in "This Sporting Life" - released in 1963! But in truth - not one step forward had been made.

And for whatever reason - there are still truths that need to come out - and they haven't.

Awful season for London only partially redeemed by the players earning some of their salary back at the end of the year.

Staying in one place for a bit longer is a positive, the total lack of any strategy, marketing, planning, communication, sense or direction off the field - or even a club shop - has just killed any enthusiasm I have for the club.

If I go to any rugby next season it will be in Hemel but even there an 8 home game league season feels like too few matches to be meaningful.

But, away from London, I think there have been plenty of reasons to be positive. As ever, our biggest enemies are within.

Pleased - we won the league, Tomkins continues to be amazing, some good younger players lining up to come through

Not Pleased - We've lost all the important games, we can't beat Warrington (who I think are actually the best team in the league at the moment)

All said though at the start of the season I thought we'd finish 3rd/4th and not get to any finals, so I'm really pleased we won the league.
