Daniel Anderson appointed as NRL referees' boss

1 post in this topic

FORMER Parramatta Eels coach Daniel Anderson is the man in charge of fixing the NRLs refereeing crisis.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Anderson will be appointed tomorrow as the high-performance director of refereeing for three years.

Under a bold new structure, veteran referee Tony Archer will retire to become one of two full-time coaches.

The other coach will be Englishman Russell Smith, who has been in an acting role since the sackings of Bill Harrigan and Stuart Raper last month.

The three appointments have been approved by the independent commission and will be confirmed at a press conference later this week.

Most of those interviewed for the role, including dumped Roosters coach Brian Smith, were being informed this afternoon they had missed out.

Sweeping changes include appointing referee Bernard Sutton as coach of the Toyota Cup emerging referees.

Pretty good move, Anderson should be popular and do a good Job.
