Bien Venue up Pudsey is a great place to watch bands, the best I have seen there is The Bridewell Taxis.

I like the Irish Centre as well seen a fantastic punk band called The Po Boys there.

Speaking of leeds venues i remember seeing hawkwind at the queens hall , an alnighter with aurthur brown on the bill . i was also at leeds town hall for the focus concert that directly led to the famous sound limit being applied of 96 decibels as people were leaving the town hall totally deaf and one with a bleeding eardrum . The most stand out concert i saw at leeds town hall in hindsight was in 1973 with mott the hoople featuring a little known band as support that did alright for themselves later ...think they called themselves Queen .great days .

I was at that gig great gig, seen a few at the town hall Thin Lizzy, Cockney Rebel to name two.

FForde Green was good too ,apart from Be Bop Deluxe used to see a band called Strife who were from Liverpool there, they never made it big , but should have, they had Supertramp support them at other venues. Dodgy area though waiting for your bus home in the late 70s.

The best gig attended was the Ramones at the Leeds Uni from start to finish a packed out Uni crowd from front to back of the hall going mental. Seen Buzzcocks there too with a little band called Joy Division in support. Usually I stay in the bar for the support , but this time it paid off.

Now have tonight off work as a holiday and going to The O2 in Leeds to see another old punk band, The Damned.

I saw him in Hong Kong last night as it goes (we don't get much live music so got to take what you can get!). Fair play to him though, he put on a good show.

Saw Elton John when he did a number of small venues around Europe a couple of years back - he certainly gave value for money and was on stage the best part of 3 hours.

Yeh its good when you get value for money in seeing bands , when i used to go to Reading festival before it was twinned with Leeds 1987 , 1988 , it cost me £29 , £32 ,for a full weekend ticket (fri, sat, sun) , whats the price now over £200 , the cost of living as'nt gone up that much , early 80's i paid £4.50 to see AC/DC at the Queens Hall , my first pint of cider was 78p , could get smashed for a fiver....... The BBC had a bit of a mini "Dad Rock" weekend, seemingly without telling anyone about it - there was an AC/DC concert on BBC4 on Friday night as well.

The best TV channels to watch bands on is Sky Arts 1 and 2. Coming up this week amongst others are concerts by New Order, Ray Davies, Roy Orbinson, Rolling Stones, Rush and the 2012 Rewind Festival of '80's music

nah it was the original line up of plant , page, jones+ bonhams son on drums, not keen when bands reform but this was fantastic, i thought plants voice would have gone but not a bit of it.Saw em at Earls Court in 75. AC/DC on at River Plate Argentina with about 200,000 screaming Argies was just unreal with that crowd as well.

Taxi rank at the side of the Brudenell car parks handy too.

Best venue in Leeds, along with cheap beer, happy daze indeed :)

Next gig for me there The Ruts Friday 15th March 2013.
