Today named new chairman of british swimming.. not sure whether his role as chairman of Super League was a full-time one or what.. but assume this might signal the end of his involvement with SL?..

Report I've seen is that Watkins was also Chairman of the Greyhound Board of GB, a Director of the British Association of Sport and Law (how much of that knowledge have we seen from him?), a Director of Lancashire Cricket Club and a senior partner in a law firm.

He can't have been any more than part-time at the RFL.

not sure how well he'll do at swimming, leaving so many s/l clubs struggling to keep their heads above water

Sometimes getting stuck and getting hands dirty is not enough. Sometimes, people need to work out what to get stuck into and agree where to get their hands dirty. In the past, in my opinion, the game has suffered from too much action and not enough thought.

Think he was only ever temporary at the RFL but hope we hear of permanent, external appointment soon, we need new blood at the top management of the game right now.
