What's in a number?

Do they not give team sheets out at Batley? Not to worry though, the reason i get team sheets is because folk are asking who plays where...

I am not worried, and not everyone gets a team sheet at every match.

End of an era.

Get used to it.

No, Griff. I will not get used it, nor will I accept it. Look at the posts above, you have to get a team sheet to find out which squad number bearer is playing where. Buying a programme for such information is worthless as it lists all the players (and the idiotic numbers) only; so it's perm any 17 from the players signed up and try and fathom where some of the will play. Shirts 1-17 each game tell you this.

Personally, I just watch the game and see where players stand and where they run. And do I really need to know that number 546 is playing prop to enjoy the game ? Probably not ....

Seems to me it doesn't matter where anybody plays in yours eyes. Now were he to wear 8 or 10, then we would know.

Players move around the field. There's much less specialisation than there used to be.

well Griff, I owe you an apology. The squad number system does work. When Jamie akaidere scored the try under the posts, silly me, I thought it was Tebb. Can't have been though he was wearing the number 5 and thanks to recent threads we now know there is no sharing of shirts. SillyBatley too. They have had this crazy idea of putting players names on the shirts. That'll never work.....

Oh Griff! Still both full-backs wore their squad numbers - 1. Azue, squad number 32 wore the 19 and Jy-Mel Coleman, the scrum-half, well he just wandered about the field willy-nilly it seemed to me.

Wonder if you were there to see it all take place?

Squad numbers don't really take place on boxing day though, they do in the season

We played in 2012 shirts on Boxing Day because our hosts wanted to play in their new shirts and were worried there'd be a clash.

The squad numbers weren't in effect. They will be for at least one of the friendlies.

We might be playing in a different shirt for one of the matches though. ;)
