New sides in division 3 are Coventry, Peterlee, Kells, Wigan St Cuthberts, Hindley, Pilkington Recs and Huddersfield Underbank Rangers. Blackbrook and Woolston Rovers will probably join them if voted in. They will as mentioned above join demoted Crosfields, Featherstone Lions and Heworth

2 Cumbrian sides in the top division for the first time in a good while, looking forward to it. Would love to see Mllom join them but think its probably beyond them.

referring to OP - if Leigh East are in Div 2 is Div 1 a 13 team league or is someone else in there? ta

13 teams. They haven't reprieved anyone as division 2 only has 11 teams as it is.

Going to be very tough at the top end of division 3 as half those sides are good enough for division 1 IMO

Is it not better to try and get an even number of teams in each division?

You try telling clubs that stayed up or earnt promotion to play in a lower division. The ambition is 4 divisions of 14 but we're not there yet.

Edit: sorry might have misunderstood. Yes even divisions is good but 10 is too few and harsh to deny promotion to 3rd in division 2 at short notice.

does anyone know if there are any other teams interested in joining the ncl summer comp this year or is blackbrook and woolston the only 2 teams. theres still room for other teams looking at the leagues above, ie prem 14 div1 13 div2 11 div3 12.

looks like its gonna be very competitive again in all divisions if the above leagues are decided upon.

Kells might not take long to get there

Really hope you are right but its going to be 3 years at the earliest. Even though I hated playing them I'm on good terms with alot of the lads I played against, including the current coach so would love to see them do it

Cheers for the info guys, why have Crosfields and fev lions been relegated to Div 3 when they finished 6th and 9th respectively, shouldnt Elland and eastmoor have been relegated with heworth?

Lots of other clubs wanted to join but no others who met criteria. Nottingham and Barrow Island were offered a place and turned it down. At least one other club was approached but they've asked not to be named

Pilkington Recs, Blackbrook, Kells, Underbank, Coventry and Woolston are all better than the vast majority of division 2 IMO. Wigan St Cuthberts aren't bad either.

Woolston's strength lies with which Wizards make the transition, it certainly will be an interesting division with so many new teams

Thought exactly the same, would you go as far as saying its as tough as Div 1? I think it might be.

Looking at division 3 teams i can see this being a tough division to get out of.

Pilks blackbrook and st cuthberts will probably be the top 3 teams to beat as they all have nwml premier division experience and thayin itself is a good standard of rugby.

I think the addition of a third division with the quality teams that have been accepted by the NCL will only enhance the reputation of the flag ship amatuer set up.

I think Kells may have something to say about that! Those 3 teams will be in the mix but Kells will be right up there too. Coventry aren't to be underestimated (especially after going to Spain for their pre-season training camp!). Heworth will find it tough again and Peterlee will need to recruit on a huge scale even to be competitive with the top sides. Woolston will be a decent set if they pick up a chunk of the Wizards players and Hindley aren't a bad side either. I'd be surprised if the top 3 come the end of the year doesn't contain Kells, Pilks and Blackbrook.
