'Team Wales' is a new membership drive that will see fan's names actually be part of the shirt when the team take the field as RLWC2013 kicks off at Cardiff's iconic Millennium Stadium on October 26.

The first 1,000 fans who become Team Wales members, for just £15 per year, will have their name embossed on Wales' RLWC2013 shirts.

Wales Rugby League General Manager Mark Rowley said "Team Wales is all about getting fans behind the national squad."

Wales take on the United States at Wrexham's Glydnwr University Racecourse Ground on November 3 in the second of their group games and round things off with a big clash against the Cook Islands at The Gnoll, Neath, on November 10.

Rowley said: "Wales Rugby League is a family and we want everyone to join in and be part of the family. All the boys will want the backing of our fans and everyone in Wales and this campaign will put our members at the heart of the squad.

"The first 1,000 fans who join will have the unique opportunity to be on the pitch as part of Team Wales which has only been done in football before by the giants of the game like Real Madrid.

"There are a lot of other benefits that membership of Team Wales bring but to actually be a part of the Rugby League World Cup is something pretty special."

Not only will members have their names on the Welsh shirts but there are a number of other fantastic benefits to joining the Team Wales family. They include: A monthly newsletter packed full of updates, features and offers from Wales Rugby League. As well as ten per cent off Wales Rugby League merchandise and special matchday packages from North Wales Crusaders and South Wales Scorpions.

I hope that the shirt looks better than the Halifax effort this season, which has followed a similar idea. :O

I like the idea, I wish Scotland would come up with something similar, there appears to be very few opportunities to do something to support them in a modest way.

Great idea, engaging with the fans early and hopefully generate bigger number of fans

Well done Wales
