Apart from being the latest victim of the lazy 'League of his/her/their own' headline, she is also the first woman from the South of England to get a call-up into the England squad for the Women's World Cup.

People like this are absolutely vital for the development of our game in the future, a talented young women from the south and also a P.E teacher who will hopefully be positive about spreading our game with the children at her school. Well done.

Only 6 games of league!?

Don't know anything about the standard of woman's rugby (league or union), or even how the games compare to their male versions, but I'd be interested in an informed view about a player making the national squad after just 6 games.

Is she very good? Are the codes much closer in the woman's game? Is the general standard in woman's union, much higher than in woman's league? Is her dad the coach!!

In general though, players from the south who can reach the very top, especially those in positions to be a role model for others are invaluable to the sport.

I don't think it's that unprecedented in the men's game. People like Boston, Davies and Offiah were all Internationals shortly after switching.

I guess that process is slightly accelerated because of the relative size of the talent pool in the women's game.
