Ladder Positions After NRL Round 14 2013

SCoachAftR142013_zps5c14ca66.jpg

Notebook After Round 14

Now that was a lot better result for all of us.

It was good to have a round where there were no byes and we had a fair chance to get a full team on the pitch.

Our top six (Peter, Steven, James, David, Gavin and Graham all topped the thousand points mark together with Ian and Najet.

In the happy 900 club were six more: Simon, David, Richard, Tom, Cory and Tyler.

Everyone else raised their game too with Jeff, Steph, Kev all in the 800's club and Robert and Todd getting a respectable mid 700's plus.

Special mention goes to James and his Jimmy's Jobbers who top scored with a massive 1,334 points. Well done, mate.

That brings James back into the exclusive '1000+ Average' Club rejoining Peter and Steven there.

Round 15 will put the cat among the pigeons. There's only four fixtures so we see eight clubs sit the round out.

So it's damage limitation mode then!

Good luck - I think we are going to need it!

Head to Head League Ladder After Round 14

SCoachHdtoHdAftR142013_zps12449fb9.jpg

That round see's Tom with his intriguingly named Kev's Krackers moving up into the top eight.

The other movement in that top section sees Graham and Simon swap places.

As this ladder includes 11 rounds we have Peter, James, David and Steven all in the '1000+ Average' Club.

Gavin's good points difference though see's him in there with them.

Kym's game is noticably improving so it won't be long before that duck is broken!

There are some interesting points differences there too which look to me like they can mean a lot of movement up or down with just one win or loss.

Exciting stuff.

Fingers crossed for Round 15 then!  :help:

Just looked at the line ups for for eight teams in Round 15.

:shout: Aaaaaah!

To compound the problem of eight teams missing from the week we've then got the effects of Pre-Origin restings of top players.

On top of that is the normal layer of absence due to injury or bad behaviour and there's a fair bit of the latter about at the moment.

Surely this must be the most painful week in prospect for us team managers.

Any advice or solace would be appreciated.

Total Points Ladder After NRL Round 15 2013

SCoachAftR152013_zps256071b6.jpg

Notebook After Round 15

Well nobody came in with advice before that round, but as could be predicted the difficulties would be there for all of us. Still it affected some of us more than others.

Not one of us was able to breach the 1000 point barrier this week.

Hats off then to Steph our top scorer this week with an excellent 947. The only other coach to achieve over 900 points was Steven with 907.

Peter's Yorkshire Gold still tops the total poll though the gap has narrowed just a bit to Steven in 2nd place.

WEll done to everyone on a very trying week, especially if you tried! :D

Head to Head League Ladder After Round 15

SCoachHdtoHdAftR152013a_zpsc32a159a.jpg

Special mention this week goes to Gavin's Restoftheworldvaus (776)who was able to inflict a first defeat of the Head to Head season on Peter's Yorkshire Gold (681).

The closest match was between Jeff and Tom who were only separated by 30 points. It was Tom's Kev's Krackers (don't know why Tom has Kev in his team's title name) who shaded that one.

Round 16 will be a more normal week for us though Bulldogs and Eels players aren't available due to byes.

The random factor could well be the effect of Origin 2.

We'll all be wanting our Origin players to come out of the game unscathed and ready to play in R16.

Good luck everyone.

Total Points Ladder After NRL Round 16 2013

SCoachAftR162013_zpsdf48806e.jpg

Notebook After Round 16

Peter and Steven consistently get the 1000+ point scores. Special mention this week also to Tom and Richard who both also topped that mark.

This saw them both move up a place each in the ladder. I thought it was a tricky week what as last minute injuries to some key players was an element thrown into the mix meaning that a fair number of us scored below our average number of points. Round 19 at least sees a clear week when all the teams take to the park. I suppose we should be thankful for small mercies!

Good luck in R17 then mates

Head to Head League Ladder After Round 16

SCoachHdtoHdAftR162013a_zps0fa745a4.jpg

Well done Steven and Gavin this week - both jumping two places now holding places 2 and 3 respectively.

Among other climbers this week is Steph who jumps from 15th last week to 13th this time.

So there's a lot of room for changes in this head to head league.

Total Points Ladder After NRL Round 17 2013

SCoachAftR172013_zps5beddd91.jpg

Notebook After Round 17

Graham and Peter both topped the 1200 points mark this week with Graham the top scorer on 1256.

Ian had a great week gathering 1,117. The other 1000+ scorers this week were Cory, Richard and Steph.

So the high scores were spread out down the table. That just spiced up the comp and maybe rewarded some loyalty to players who finally came up with the goods!

... or maybe not!

To close I'll just mention the achievements of Peter and Steven still averaging over a thousand points a round with just nine rounds to go.

Head to Head League Ladder After Round 17

SCoachHdtoHdAftR172013_zpse914c230.jpg

A bit more movement as perhaps we've come to expect in this ladder.

Gavin continues his rise moving up again this time into clear second place.

Ian's good score and win helped him jump a couple of places with Cory doing likewise.

There's plenty of opportunity then for advancement in this table.

Round 18 will certainly be a big challenge for us all with only four games on the fixture list and a lot of players sitting the round out on a bye. Good luck everyone!

Total Points Ladder After NRL Round 18 2013

SCoachAftR182013_zps0fda3eee.jpg

Notebook After Round 18

It was always going to be tough to score heavily in this the last of the big bye rounds of the season with I guess more and more teams having fewer and fewer transfers left in the kitty. Richard was our top scorer with very creditable 919 points which moved him above David and his Dynamos. Thatcham Rabbitohs' David on the other hand and Gavin's Restoftheworldvaus both nipped above James and his Jimmy's Jobbers.

Looking at the points totals there's some very close calls in all sections of the ladder, so it's still all to play for. Peter at the top has a 1,000 point buffer as we move towards the last eight rounds.

We're not quite out of the woods though in the bye season with Broncos, Bulldogs, Storm and Cowboys all not involved in Round 19. So just a last little hurdle to leap before entering the final stretch. To help those with plenty of trades left we have got up to four available to make this round.

Head to Head League Ladder After Round 18

SCoachHdtoHdAftR182013_zps743ee65e.jpg

Peter remains at the top with good buffer having one victory more than nearest rival Gavin and a very healthy points difference (+4469) The league point scores now step down from the top. The first group at the top all on 22 points is David (4th) Graham (5th) and James (6th). there were some very close calls in that round with one or two decent scorers being pipped  by their opponents - well that is the luck of the draw in this head to head ladder! Steph just lost out this round but is putting together a good run of results (4-1 in wins out of the last 5 head to heads).

Not sure how the rest of the season works out... is it a case of knock out rounds? Maybe someone could give us an idea of how the rest of the season's head to head league works?

Good luck in Round 19 everyone.

Notebook After Round 19

Not quite a full round with four teams on byes. Still I suppose it kept us on our toes!

Just two of us grabbed a thousand points or more: Graham top scored with 1017 while Steven hit the 1,000 mark exactly.

Well done both.

David (Thatcham Rabbitohs), Graham and Steph were the only ones to score more in R19 than their average points per round.

David (Th R) and Peter both gained very respectable scores in the 900's.

Steph has moved up again and is eying a top eight spot. David will be aiming to hold 8th though being as he has 433 points more than Steph.

There's some great battles going on in all areas of the ladder.

SCoachHdtoHdAftR192013_zps18214ff7.jpg

Peter tops both ladders, but it's Gavin giving him a run for his money here, equal on points after winning his head to head while Peter had a very rare defeat.

Steven is close by too in third place on his own.

There's lots of coaches sharing points - only separated currently by points difference.

Simon, Tom and David (Daves Dynamos) are fighting it out currently for that top eight spot with Simon being 8th on points difference.

So it's all to play for!!!

Great stuff.

We've a full set of teams playing every week now all the way to the end of Round 26.

In theory that should make things easier.

Happy coaching everyone.

Notebook After Round 20

What a cracking  set of scores this week. These are the highest set of scores for the season so far. So Gavin's score of 1,462 is the highest score any of us have attained all season. respect to you Gavin. The other three in our top four, Peter, Steven and David (TRab), scored terrifically well too. Our third highest score though went to Richard down in 7th place closing the gap dramatically on James in sixth.

So 10 out of 20 of us topped the 1000 point mark this week - well done to all. James, Kev, Nuggy and Steph were all in a huddle round the mid 800s. Special mention to Tyler then who outscored a fair number of teams above him.

With the promise of a full set of eight games every week until the end of the regular season we'll all be hoping for these sort of scores regularly now to the end.

One or two injuries to popular players will keep us on our toes.

Head to Head League Ladder After Round 20

SCoachHdtoHdAftR202013_zpsa92cc571.jpg

Gavin, Graham and Richard have won all their last five head to heads. It's Gavin who is keeping up the pressure on Peter up at the top. Both have now scored 30 points . Peter is almost a thousand points up in the points difference category.

The top eight is all to play for with lots players on equal league points. Three or four players outside the top eight will be feeling they have a decent chance of breaking in there before season end.

This week however the top eight positions belong to the same people as last week. David (DDynamos  has climbed into the 20 point group and has displaced Tom for 9th place.

Superb competition this season.

Well done everyone and good luck this week in Round 21.The heat is on!!!

Notebook After Round 21

Some good scores this week that largely cemented the top positions.

From my point of view I went into Monday nights game leading Gavin by about 50 odd points. I knew I'd be up against it though as I had just one Bulldogs forward to score for me while Gavin had Trent Hodkinson and Michael Ennis up his sleeve. That did for me! Well done Gavin.

So eight coaches scored over 1000 points in the round: Peter, Steven, David (ThR), Gavin, Graham, Steph, Ian and Tyler.

It's Tyler who gets the big raps for this round scoring 1012 from 19th place in the ladder. Well done mate.

SCoachHdtoHdAftR212013_zpse934f484.jpg

The closest call of the round was Najet beating Kev by one point!!! Ah so close yet so far Kev! Well done Najet.

Gavin and Richard are the two form players having won all of their last five head to heads.

Ian is the only player outside the top eight who has won more than he's lost.

Am I right in thinking there's just one more head to head round this season (R22)?

Good luck in the next round everyone  :sungum:

Notebook After Round 22

In Head to head terms that was a key week of games as from here on in we have a Finals Series - R23 is Week 1; R24 Week 2; R25 Week 3 Preliminary Finals; Week 4 The Finals (Grand and Minor)

So the top 16 clubs as of now are in the play-offs.

The top four teams go into Week 1 knowing victory will see them straight through to Week 3's Preliminary Final in the Major Finals.

Similarly Teams 9, 10, 11 and 12 progress in the Minor Finals. Losers  reap the benefit of their high position and play again in Week 2.

See the Finals Chart below to get the full picture for you and your team.

As for the Total Points ladder the top five were the ones to cross the 1000 point barrier. Well done to Peter, Steven, David, Gavin and Graham.

There's some cracking teams up there.

SCoachHdtoHdAftR222013_zps97a3fffc.jpg

I guess the number of trades you have left, if any, will be important, that and if not, how many playing substitutes you can muster.

So good luck to everybody involved.

I'll continue to show the Total Points Ladder and also the Head to Head Overview Ladder if that is still compiled on the site.

SCHead2HeadFinalsWk1_zps01e21589.jpg

This is my first year with this competition and it has been a steep learning curve!

The Total Point ladder will continue to give everyone an overview.

Good luck in the Finals.

Notebook After Round 23

Seven of the top eight teams went beyond the 1000 point mark this week.

Ian also managed it as well. Peter deserves another mention as his Yorkshire Gold team is a cracker. Again this week he's top scored with 1,332. Well done also to David with his Thatcham Rabbitohs who ran him close (1,300). That score edged David back over the 1000 point average if only by 0.7  :good:

This ladder will continue being updated right through to the end of Round 26.

SCoachHdtoHdFinalPos2013_zpsb5f17693.jpg

The normal stages of the Head to Head league are now complete so this ladder will remain as it is as a summary of league points for the 2013 season.

Well done to Peter and Gavin who both won 17 out of their 19 head to head contests and who were separated by points difference.

Steven also deserves a mention in dispatches for his consistent performance making the podium on the third step with 16/19 wins.

Well done to everyone, especially those who finished in the top eight.

SCHead2HeadFinalsWk2_zps2e0a5a75.jpg

So we have two head to head knock outs going on: major and minor.

In the top eight play-offs Peter and Steven have already booked thier place in Week 3's Preliminary Finals where they wait to see who will join them after this next round.

Steven did it by edging out Gavin who'd finished one place above in the league.

The diagram above shows the way the comp works through.

It's Simon and Ian who've gone straight into the Preliminary Finals in the Minor Premiership. Well done to all concerned.

Hard luck if you've been knocked out. Good luck in the next round for those it concerns.

Cheers,

Graham :sungum:

Notebook After Round 24

The Total Points comp continues with plenty of points being racked up.

Ten teams scored 1000+ points in the round - pretty good, especially from Peter, Richard and David (ThR) getting over 1300 points

Peter, Steven and David are still averaging over a 1000 points.

Gavin will need a couple of big scores to join them. I'll be trying hard too.

Head to Head Play Offs

Well done too to Ian's Hutton Vikings - through to meet Steph in Week 3.

Jeff deserves a mention getting 1018 with his TBT's

In this weekend's Premiership Preliminary finals, the four teams involved are:

Yorks Gold (finished 1st in H2H league) takes on Daves Dynamos (finished 7th)

Mighty Bulldogs (3rd) vs Thatcham Rabbitohs (4th)

In the Minor Premiership Preliminary Finals it's:

Munich Storm (9th) v Kev's Krackers (10th)

Hutton Vikings (11th) v Steph's Best (13th)

Good luck to all in the last couple of weeks.

There is a Finals Super Coach Comp you can sign up for now.

Hello G las D,I would just like to say thanks for running the comp this year and I will be back next year.

I have enjoyed it,restoftheworldvaus!

Thanks HP

This is the first season I've done the Super Coach comp, previously it was the Fantasy Team comp.

I now prefer this comp.

The hardest part was coping with the bye rounds, whether to take a hit in the short run or try to swap and change wholesale but use up a lot of the transfer allocations.

I like the autosub idea.

It has been good to have a lot of people in our league the majority of whom have kept involved season long.

It was also good to watch how the top teams in our league were managed.

If you haven't had time so far take a look at Peter's team - it's one that a lot of thought has gone into early on and the sort of team that would now be far too expensive to put together..

So for this league there's just R25 and R26 to go.

Good luck everyone.

Graham

Close calls in the head to head games this weekend with just one game to play and only a few players involved in the Dra v Eels game.

Picking the right captain was an important decision as it turns out  seeing as how the top teams all struggled to give of their absolute best.

Thanks G las D for running things. Sadly in July & August I was out in Australia and NZ so wasnt checking what was happening etc and then been busy after arriving back. Though a few hours with the Storm U20s and look around the facilities is something that will stay in the memory along while. Hopefully next year I wont be so disrupted and also understand things better and not make so many bad decisions early on!! Will be up for playing next year def and will be interesting to see the price changes next year regarding certain players.

Thanks LRL, that's appreciated.

Sounds like you had a good time Down Under, especially the Storm related time you had. NZ and Aus - fantastic!

As for next year's teams, I bet the players' prices won't let us buy the same team to start with as the one we ended up with, or our best line-up.

Notebook After Round 25

Five topped 1,000 points this week though I felt that points were harder to come by as the match results were a bit topsy turvy with top teams and some of their players struggling somewhat.

Well done then to those five.

Gavin is within spitting distance of averaging 1000+ for the season.

Top scorer in the round was Steven's Mighty Bulldogs.

Good luck in the final round.

Just a reminder of the final positions in the Head to Head Ladder that settled the Play Offs:

SCoachHdtoHdFinalPos2013_zpsed80c9d0.jpg

Now though let's get right up to date and see how the Preliminary Finals played out:

SCHead2HeadKnockoutWk3_zpsc2f6a431.jpg

League Finals

So then the two teams that finished 1 and 3 in the Head to Head league have progressed all the way to the final.

The two teams managed by Davids - Dave's Dynamos and Thatcham Rabbitohs  were the ones to just miss out on a Grand Final place.

So it's two deserving teams that face up next weekend. Good luck to Peter and Steven and may the best team win!

Minor Premiership

As for the Minor Premiership the teams that have battled through to the Grand Final finished in 10th and 11th places in the regular Head to Head season.

They met previously in the 2nd Qualifying Final a fortnight ago when Ian's Hutton Vikings came out on top meaning Tom had to take on Cory's team and then highest ranked Munich Storm (Simon) to get to this weekend's GF

Good luck then to Tom and Ian in the Grand Final.

So it's just one more week for all of us to amass the points.

I wonder how many have still any trades left to use?

Cheers,

Graham
