all turnstyle staff will be dressed in a black hat, black mask, black cape & sporting 2 pistols

on entry the fev fans will be greeted with stand & deliver.

this should make them feel at home when demanding £17 entry ;)

thats if they travel with it on T.V ;)

Dearie dearie me. Like I've said before if you don't want to pay the 17 quid stay at home you don't bring many anyway so one less wont make much difference.

Not really sure what other championship teams are asking on the gate (apart form Batley) but 17 quid seems steep for a second tier game and would expect this price to be more reflective of Super Dooper League!

Mind you times change! We are good friends of the daughter of former Halifax Warrington Fulham and Great Britan Hooker John Dalgreen. He very kindly lent me some of his memorabilia, (which was very interesting). In one daily newspaper article about his career there was a piece above it about top flight football clubs (Manchester United Liverpool Arsenal etc) increasing their gate entry. The proposed increase was causing such a stir, as cubs and the league at time believed it was not unreasonable to increase entry across the board from 80p to £1.00! 1978.

Coolie - On another thread you picked me up for suggesting you can't please some people any of the time. Um, is this another positive post?

If anyone thinks £17 is too much, they can buy a season ticket or if that is too much, then just don't attend, no-one is forcing anyone to come.

Do you think there maybe a connection

with rising gate money, falling gates & rising debts

With clubs.

no club can afford to lose support

there has to be a line how much is acceptable to

pay to watch a game..you try charging £50 for a

family to be entertained for 80 minutes youll see the death of rugby league...after the inside out programme there has to be radical changes

or the sport will be on its a.rse regardless how

much we love the world that is rugby league.

why do people not see it !!!!!

It's not the fact that £17 is too much for one person. I think what Coolie is saying that when families attend matches that's when it becomes expensive.............but I could be wrong!

living beyond your means springs to mind.Is it what they want to charge or is it what they have to charge

As both Featherstone and Halifax have recently announced substantial investments, I doubt that they are in Financial difficulties.

The probable reason that the prospective Super League entrants charge high prices is that one of the criteria for submitting an application

for a franchise is that they have to have a minimum Annual Turnover level of, I believe, £2m pa. Therefore, they have to maximise all revenue opportunities.

I don't suppose any club at our level is awash wi cash. No club will make a substantial profit. Most will post losses.

I suppose if we are to keep challenging for the top spot and getting to finals etc, a squad capable of doing that will have to be recruited and paid for. Decisions are made at BoD level as to what is the optimum price that represents best income opportunities, viz:- price/attendees, and £17 was duly arrived at.

Fev are making 'managed losses' (paying the way out of admin and ground re-development) at the mo but do, for now at least, have an enormous amount of security and an investor prepared to pump money into the club... a lot of money.

Living beyond our means??? You do the maths!

As a speccie of a lot of years, these last three years have been the best for 20 years. I am quite happy paying for a gold season ticket. Attendances at Fev are increasing year on year as is the turn over and secondary income generation.

I'm quite happy at the mo.

However, if Coolie thinks the £17 is too much, well what can I say.... don't come!! I really don't see what the issue is??

I wont lol

everything has a price...and when it becomes unaffordable...you simply dont attend.

dont take away the sport of the people for the people.

because once lost they never come back.

policy at fev should be.....

becareful who you rob on the way up...

because their the ones to fill your buckets

on the way down ;)

I just hope for your sake coolie that your partnered club doesn't start telling your BOD what to do because if they do im sure you will be paying 17 quid to watch the rams in future.Success costs coolie but if Fev charge 30 quid I would pay it so my club can get better etc.

Season ticket mate always cheaper

and if they get to 170 quid for one

ill not be buying one of them either

will go watch shawcross and thornhill for the

live stuff and T.V for the rest...

rugby league has to stop thinking its bigger than it is...its not rugby union with wads of cash and jobs for the boys and its national coverage.

ours is a sport played along the M62 couple of welsh teams and a few in cumbria..oh and some teams darn south....french rugby can survive without us and the aussies are light years ahead of us....so lets just get giddy and believe redhall too many times ;)

So gaz your saying

what your team demands you pay no questions

asked ?

if you wanna be a money b.itch for your club...good luck mate

your no better than a junkie dependent on your dealer in that case...

clubs have a accountability and have to have affordability to survive....

i would like to add my support to featherstone rovers charging £300 pound for next season

fingers crossed they will....

lets see whos moaning then ;) gaz

Clubs have to strike a balance between admission, expected crowds and what they have to pay players. Say we charged £10, we would have less for players, we would lose more games, fewer people would come to watch. And doubtless some fans would demand the club spends more on players.

If anyone has a magic formula to reduce admission whilst at the same time not reducing income, then I am sure the club would like to know.

If you don't want to pay £17 a game, there's the season ticket or just don't attend.
