Dewsbury Rams have today confirmed the signings of two new recruits. Centre/back row forward Lucas Walshaw, has arrived at the Tetley’s Stadium from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and prop forward Stephen Nash from Castleford Tigers. Standing at 6ft 5ins the 20 year old Walshaw, already has a number of Super League appearances with the Wildcats, hand as signed on a season long loan from the club and has been given squad number 28. He will continue to train with the Wildcats as a full time professional but will also take part in the Ram’s own training sessions making him a permanent part of the squad for the whole season. 27 year old Nash, who also stands at 6ft 5ins and weighs in at 16 stone 8 has played Super League for Salford and Widnes as well as Castleford Tigers and also has Championship rugby experience with Leigh Centurions. He has come to the Rams on a month long loan to provide cover for the injured Ben Jones who was a standout player for the Rams in 2012 and who is now up and running in training after his recent operation. Nash will also combine full time training with Castleford in addition to the sessions at the Tetley’s Stadium.

The season long loan deal with the Wildcats for Walshaw has replaced the deal the two clubs had agreed with back row forward Chris Anniken who prefers to fight for a spot at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium but the Rams already have plenty of cover in the squad in that area so the revised deal suited both parties perfectly.
