RFL PRESS RELEASE

He has solved some great mysteries during his career as a famous TV detective but Kevin Whately will determine matters of more significant importance next Wednesday (March 13) when he helps conduct the draw for the third round of the 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup.

The celebrated actor is a long-standing Rugby League fan who regularly attends the final of the sport’s oldest and most prestigious knockout competition at Wembley each year and is better known to many as Lewis from the eponymous TV series, which is filmed in Oxford.

Kevin will be joined at the draw by Bruce Ray, the Communications Director of tournament sponsors Carlsberg UK.

The third round of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup sees the entry of the 23 Kingstone Press Championship and Championship One clubs, including for the first time Oxford, Hemel Stags and the University of Gloucestershire All Golds.

The draw will be hosted in the Rugby Pavilion at Oxford’s ‘new’ home, the historic Iffley Road sports ground in Oxford at 1.00pm.

Good piece of well put together thinking, new club (to the pro ranks) at Oxford gets the challenge cup draw performed by the famous fictional Oxford detective Lewis of Morse fame, who is played by a very well known actor who happens to be a big RL fan.

That is some well thought out joined up thinking, surely not.

Dont forget us lot this side of the Channel.

Carcassonne and Toulouse Olympique will be there too.

Canaris will be looking at getting past the first hurdle for the first time and getting a plum home draw at the newly developed Stade Albert Domec. Allez les Jaunes!

Absolutely. Let's hope the Oxfordshire press pick it up also - it'd be a great boost to the 'spires ahead of their league and cup debut. Does anyone know the dates for the third round please?
