Good luck finding a close game. Too many worrying SL score margins this year ;)

Aye, another one sided game at Headingley last night. ;):D

Thanks for the advice, def not from Barnes, we are North London boys a travelodge in Leeds or Manchester would suit us perfectly. I will have a look at the fixtures. 2 games in the weekend would be great.

Huddersfield Travelodge is well placed for their ground and a reasonable walk to town for a few beers. If you like good beer then the Sportsman t6akes some beating http://www.undertheviaduct.com/

The Slubbers Arms is good for pre-game beers.

I'll second this reccomendation....start with a few in the Slubbers Arms before the game, then train to Leeds for your night out.

Cas/Wakey is always a belting, if hostile atmosphere.

Why not make a long weekend out of it and take in a Thursday night championship game. I can recommend Fev, obviously. But other top semi pro teams are available.

Thanks for all your advice. We are making a long weekend of it. We are going to leeds vs Bradford on the thursday night and then Wigan Saints on Friday.

On the Monday we are keen to get a championship game but we don't know much about the league or the geographical locations. Which of the following are easily accessible from leeds and should be a good game.

Featherstone vs Swinton Championship Hunslet vs Keighley Championship 15:00 Barrow vs York Championship 15:00 Doncaster vs Halifax Championship 15:00 Leigh vs Workington Championship 15:00 Whitehaven vs Sheffield Championship 18:00 Dewsbury vs Batley Championship

Thanks for all your help.

If it was me I think I'd pick the Dewsbury v Batley game. Handy for Leeds plus a good rivalry.

Early mid 20s? Hope you're playing over the summer too! :-)

Exactly.. Get yourselves down to your local club and get some mud on your jerseys!

Are you driving or using public transport?

Featherstone, Hunslet and Dewsbury are your closest ones.

If you're driving back on the Monday, Doncaster might be a good bet. It's a bit further out, but it's a bit further down the motorway so is on the way home.

Dewsbury v Batley should be good, but if you're heading back Monday I wouldn't recommend it. It won't finish until 8pm and then it's a long trip home

Hunslet v Keighley is practically Leeds v Bradford, so could be a good way to bookend the weekend

None of us have ever played a game of rugby of either code, we all play football but prefer watching Super league to football.

Is their a standard in london for real beginners as adults?

We are driving up. There is 8 of us and we are hiring a people carrier, and we are bringing a satnav.

The RFL website has a Club Finder search bar. Centre of the page, near the bottom: to be honest the site is a bit cluttered.

They're called the Broncos first team...

The biggest tip you could do with now is parking, Headingley ain't brilliant for starters and leave yourself plenty of time before and after at either SL game. Wigan is a mare if you use the official car parks, it's one road, so Wigan fans may offer street parking advice.

Featherstone has a decent sized car park. No idea about any of the other championship teams.

Headingley is street parking only

Depending on how far North London you are, you can always come train at St Albans

dewsbury is one of your nearest to Leeds and just minutes off the M1 plus its a local derby so should be a cracking game

But, note for Cockney, it is a 6pm kick off.

I suppose if there's eight of them they could.

If you're in Leeds, try to get yourself over to Bradford for a curry. It'll be worth the detour.

And when you do get to Headingley, don't stand in the away end, the view is rubbish. Go in the Southstand for some proper Nothern erm, "charm".

There should be about 18,000 for the Leeds game and over 20,000 at Wigan.Dewsbury will be a good one in the Championship and near the M1,Hunslet is effectively south Leeds and again adjacent to the M1,but the crowd/game should be better at Dewsbury.

Headingley is the big student area of Leeds,so you could easily drink/eat in Headingley after the game, rather than going into Leeds city centre on thurs evening.

Your thurs schedule in Leeds!

Drive up and leave you people carrier at your central hotel.Get taxi/bus up to Headingley, about 3mls,say 6.00pm.Before game get onto North Lane, try fish and chips at Bretts(recommended by Englands cricketers) and/or drink/food at The Arc,followed by beer opposite at Headingley Taps.Walk 5 mins to ground.

After game, drink in Headingley by St Michaels church on Otley Rd.Two heaving pubs of students at the Original Oak and Skyrack - full of students and rugby supporters.Take taxi back to hotel.

Whatever happens, under no circumstances, make your way to the respectable areas of Leeds, such as Adel!

Enjoy your weekend.

ignore these M62 types trying to woo you. Get down to the Stoop and take your diet of regular humiliations like a man! How's London going to succeed if fans of the sport would rather go up to that there Yorkshire?
