Rimmer & Solly to Toulouse?

14 posts in this topic

Ralph Rimmer & Blake Solly rumoured here to be attending Toulouse-Limoux game next weekend.

Haven't heard anything of late about the stadium developments at Minimes.

Toulouse dumped out of the Lord Derby Coupe last Sunday now go Swinton in the Challenge Cup.

In the Championship likely to qualify for play offs with another four Carcassonne, St Esteve, Avignon & Villeneuve chasing the standout and favourites Pia.

Great bloke who works as hard as anyone I know. Good player in his day too.

His BBQ skills were underwhelming for an Aussie though.

They were both in Perpignan last night for Dragons game. Listened in on local radio to commentary on Toulouse-Limoux this afternoon. Think they said that Ralph Rimmer/Blake Solly performed the celebrity kick off thing. Toulouse won easily 44-10. There seemed alot of noise being made there so the club may have made some kind of effort to get a crowd out. They were also having a meet up with the Federation President Carlos Zalduendo the former club President. Wonder whether we will get a press release.

From today's T&A

Rugby Football League chief operating officer Ralph Rimmer and director of licensing and standards Blake Solly met with Bulls owner Omar Khan and co-chairman Gerry Sutcliffe at Saturday’s match.

The Bulls are keen to see their one-year probationary Super League licence extended into a full licence until the end of next year in line with the other top-flight clubs. A decision could be made within the next fortnight.

They are in the new two ten structures for SL 2015

No, the two ten-team structures belong with the Barcelona SL side, central funding and a second London SL side. Rumours started on the internet but nothing behind them.

Except that it was the chairman of Warrington (and SLE board member) that recently brought the idea into the public domain, a fair bit more substance than Barcelona for SL don't you think?

Heard that the crowd at Minimes was 2632 a lot more than they normally get so somebody put the effort in.

For me their French contingent is average in relation to the other teams.

And like most French sides have way too many overseas players.

Good to see though their Juniors U21are running 2nd in their league behind the Catalans.

True but on a par with "central funding for London" which was started by Neil Hudgell.

It's one comment made by a single chairman. No-one else has come out and agreed with him, I'm 99% sure that we won't see it happen.

Blake Solly," We have the opportunity to develop rugby league in France".

Solly and Ralph Rimmer met Carlos Zalduendo the French Fedreration President and his assistant Jean Michel Beauclou during the weekend covering a range of topics including the World Cup. Apparently 3500 tickets already sold for the Avignon game which is unheard of in these parts still 8 months before the game.

After the Limoux game they had discussions with the new President of Toulouse Olympique Bernard Sarrazain regarding Super League.

Regarding a 2nd French club in the competition Solly said," The impact should benefit our competition but also the development of rugby league in France. The integration of the Catalan Dragons in SL has created a new dynamic. The club is very well structured and the Catalans mobilise behind their team and in the last few months Bein Sport have started covering all their home matches live. I'm convinced that the SL and the French Federation are complementary. The arrival of a 2nd French team will be beneficial also to the French team".
