Campagn to fix the showers

42 posts in this topic

Seriously, we expect our lads to play their heart out often in freezing conditions and then come out to showers that either scald or don't work. The lads deserve better.

Come on Chris we're on a roll on the pitch, let's get it sorted. Why not add another £1 to the entrance fee for one game and get it sorted.

Not acceptable

Charge an extra quid for the players to have a shower! My god whatever next, charge £14 for a seat in a modern stadium, proper catering, toilets, oh and a roof?

Charge an extra quid .......... youre avin a joke , there were only 476 there today , are you trying to get it down to 100 or what

I think WE have your answer in the above posts already ......... If Mr Hamilton the club owner can not pay a plumber to fix a simple job like that there is NO HOPE WHATSOEVER.......... Hivin said that surely Mr. Whitehead has a plumber workin for him that can do it for NOWT ?

Why don't we ask any supporters who are plumbers to have a look for free, then no need to charge extra

Not sure about a campaign to get showers working. I'd be up for a campaign to get our club run by competent people and not this bad joke of a one man band.

The club should be paying for any maintainance that is required not the fans.

Work like this should be carried out before the season starts.

Surely to have adequate showers available for players and officials after the game should be one of the minimum requiremants for the game to be played.

There should be no suggestion of fans having to contribute to solve a problem like this.

as we have all said already ..........and seems everyone is of the same opinion .....the running of the club is a joke and thats why only 476 people turned up on Sunday

Maybe thats an area that Rugby Oldham could help with, directly benefitting both sets of players at Whitebank, and hopefully the ONLY thing that they can currently do that would not need them to have any input on "decision Making!"

A true crowd pleaser....Bet HE would still refuse it!! LOL!

Why should Rugby Oldham subsidise a PLC ........ Would Age Concern subsidise a private Old Peoples Care Home

Because it would be purely to benefit the players of Oldham, and all visiting players to Whitebank and as Boro Hornet alluded, this is apparently a recurring issue....and as the first post states quite clearly...Not Acceptable!

CH needs to stop being a stubborn sod and start accepting help.....ie get rugby oldham on board, give them 49% of the club and lets get things moving forward!!

cos while ORLFC is a one man club it will wither and die!

Other clubs have fans campains to upgrade grounds and floodlights, so is that wrong to suggest it? Or just another excuse for a good moan?

Might be a bad idea to increase the prices, but is it so wrong to come up with ideas?

Any improvements done at Whitebank Stadium  either voluntary or via grants . . . will in the eyes of CH just increase the vale of the club ( to himself ).............if he ever decides to sell ....... Would you pay for the butcher or the bakers shop on the corner to be re-vamped ???

Then the poster who brought this matter to the attention of this forum (rugbyman1)should contact the RFL and express his concerns that meeting minimum standards at Whitebank Stadium is a criteria patently not being met...detailing the specific matter of the showers malfunction and any "Historical Archive" of similar substandard provision.

I should think the RFL know about the conditions at Whitebank.

All these appeals to the fans for squadbuilding, help at Whitebank seem to happen every year.

The clubs shares are owned by one person.

The club is run by that one person.

Let him sort it out.

It is said he is on a larger salary than the majority of the fans and certainly the senior citizens who watch the matches.

How much would they get if they brought out their begging buckets.

Yes the Oldham fans should complain to the RFL and have our own ground closed...

So,Bedford, what`s your solution : let it remain as it is or do something ? If it`s `do something`,what do you propose ?

It can't remain as it is. Everyone knows it is below standard. I just don't see how complaining to the RFL will help us in any way, apart from getting us made homeless again.

Isn't that the same as being a grass?!!!!!!!

SEcond thoughts, if it gets something done..

Surprised Scott Naylor has not managed to push to get this sorted, he was pushing for a more professional approach.

Is it far too expensive to repair?

Bedford Roughyed.

If your post was in responce to mine I did not say anything about complaining to the RFL.

I said the RFL where probably aware of the situation at Whitebank.

They know the condition of Whitebank and for the sake of the club and the fans they are allowing us to play there.

My post was mainly concerned with appealing to the fans for monetry help from the fans to fund various aspects of the club.

That I totally disagree with.

The club and its management should solve their own problems.

I just don't think it's acceptable for the players to slog their guts out for 80 minutes and then not be able to have a shower. It really is the minimum I think we all agree. After all we've been here three years now and this has been a problem since day 1.

Hopefully we will have a good season and finally progress a level on the field. But we may not be able to hold on to these young lads if we don't even have the decency to allow them to wash properly after a game. This is 2013 after all not 1963!

How it's funded is open for debate with as you can see a number of opinions. But the long and short of it is it needs sorting sooner rather than later.

Not quite, there have been ownership details to resolve first. It was not technically ours to repair.
