Swinton have appointed Gary Chambers as head coach.

The 43-year-old former Cumbria and England A coach replaces Steve

McCormack, who resigned for family reasons four weeks ago.

He will take charge of team affairs immediately with Ian Watson and

Marlon Billy to continue as assistant coaches.

Salford schoolteacher Chambers began his career as a prop with Kells

in his native Cumbria but moved to Warrington in 1989.

Swinton chairman John Kidd said: "I'm delighted to announce that Gary

is joining us as head coach.

"There was a lot of interest but we were particularly impressed with

Gary's experience and track record and feel he is the right choice to

continue where Steve McCormack left off."

Chambers played 13 seasons at the highest level in rugby league

before joining the Warrington backroom staff.

"It's a challenge that I am really looking forward to," said Chambers.

"I am aware of where the club is and I know what needs to be done.

"I've been impressed with what John and Paul Kidd have set up here.

"I know what their values are and they are similar to my own so it

struck a chord.

"There has been a lot of turnaround over the last few years and it's

about developing structures from the inside. That will be my big

"I can't wait to get started."

Swinton are currently ninth in the Championship with two wins from

seven games and Chambers' first game will be at Batley on Saturday
