WELCOME TO NRL Round 5

.

This is posted somewhat early as my access to the computer may be limited after the weekend.

The results, summaries and updating of tables for Round 4 are likely to be delayed until near the start of Round 5 on Friday.

Everyone reading this is welcome to enter this weekly competition which runs throughout the season.

Whether you've taken part before or you fancy having a go this season for the first time you're guaranteed a warm welcome.

Entries are allowed each week up until the kick off of the first game in the round

NB This round's first game is on FRIDAY!!!

ROUND 5 QUESTIONS:

*Poll Competition:

Which will be the closest game in NRL Round 5?

that's the where the difference in the two teams scores is smallest.

- enter in the poll itself at the top and put your answer in your posting.

The poll is anonymous so we can't give you credit unless it is in your predictions post.

Now the main event of the week:

*Match tipping Competition:

Name the 8 (that's EIGHT) winning teams in NRL Round 5 2013

*Points Competition

How many points will be scored by all the teams added together in R5?

This is a competition in itself and will act as a tie breaker for the match tipping comp if necessary. This is used as the decider when necessary so do give it a go.

*HOME Win Competition:

How many HOME wins will there be in NRL R5?

In rounds where the game is on the road and played at a neutral venue, the team named first in the fixture will be regarded as the home team for the purposes of this competition.

Fixtures:

Animated awards will be given for the winner(s) of each competition question.

Match tipping scores will be added together as the season progresses to produce a Tipsters' Ladder which is pinned to the top of the forum topic list page

The best of luck to everyone.

Enjoy your Rugby League! B)

Anyone know why there is no Thursday game this week??

They were only scheduled for the first 4 rounds. Thats it now for the season, no more Thursday matches!

Was it just the first match last year that was on a thursday? They expanded a little more this year, maybe they'll do more next year.

Bulldogs v Sea Eagles. I'll take the Seagulls to overcome a tough encounter with the home team

Titans v Broncos. Another fiesty derby in the offing I think Titans will shade the Ponies

Eels v Sharks. A difficult one but I think the Sharks will have enough to win this one

Cowboys v Panthers. should be a steady home win

Dragons v Knights. Benny will be hoping to turn the the tables from last year and is better prepared but St Jarge have found some form and confidence, home win

Warriors v Rabbitohs. The Bunnies should have more than enough to win this arm wrestle as long as they don't switch off!

Raiders v Roosters. the Chooks to win this one

Storm v Tigers. on form and paper it looks a certain 2 for Storm but it won't be as both defences iffy at the moment, try fest on the cards

The game has kicked off. Our tipping competition is underway.

Big game.

Jamie Lyon needs just 2 points to break the 800 points mark.

I've had problems in the last two days - since rteturning to the PC - posting anything at all.

As above I managed to post via a tablet computer and Google Chrome.

reading general advice from John Drake I've tried various options with the three browsers I have installed.

For me:

Google Chrome - no luck - the forum mechanism didn't recognise any words I typed and wouldn't post anything

Firefox - same problems as with Chrome

Internet Explorer - It works!

From what I can see there is a problem with the forum since some kind of update.

When i say IE works - it's still not 100% as on clicking "post" it says "saving" and then doesn't move on and refresh. But when I check after refreshing the page manually the new post is there.

Frustrating!

What do you reckon to that Titans performance? They started so well. As the game went on they just lost their way.

Broncos took the initiative in the forwards and then all over the park.

Titans had a bad day at the office all round when their leading light Albert Kelly had to be lifted off the field and it looks like the poor bloke will have a lengthy period  out of the game through injury. What a shame as he'd produced a superb individualist try earlier in the game and was having a great season up until that point.

Just wasn't their day.

Broncos though  look to be sorting themselves out and  getting into gear for the 2013 season at last.

Just one game of the round left to play: Storm's game in Melbourne versus WestsTigers.

As we go into the game it's clear that this week's top scorers will be Bourbon Rat and Kiwityke who both have 6/7 so far  and like all other tipsters on here have tipped a Storm win.

Interestingly of the two above it was Bourbon Rat who tipped Warriors who just lost by a two point margin to Rabbitohs. Kiwityke bit the bullet and tipped  Bunnies to beat Warriors. It was  Roosters who let Kiwi, and a lot of the rest of us tipsters down with another narrow defeat against Raiders.

It's turning out to be a funny old week for us with some close calls and some turn rounds in form.

Sorry if you can't find a way to post on here due to technical issues with the TotalRL forums.

Do try different web browsers.

The only one working for me is Internet Explorer and even with that I have to  click post and then manually refresh the page to see my latest post.

Apologies again.
