Big Crowds watch NRL

6 posts in this topic

This ANZAC Day has brought the crowds out in OZ for the first two games of Round 7.

Melbourne's fairly new AAMI Park ground saw a near capacity attendance of 25,480 for the clash between rivals Storm and NZ Warriors. Before that Sydney's Allianz Stadium hosted the Roosters v Dragons game which attracted a crowd of 40,752 for their Thursday game.

We knew the popularity of Rugby League in Australia was in a healthy state.

Today's total attendance in two games of 66,232 emphasised the draw the game has. No wonder the media pays a king's ransom to screen the games.

Well said, it is great seeing the crowds out in force. Makes watching the game on TV better.

I was at the Wests Tigers Semi final in 2005 against Brisbane at the SFS and there was nearly 40,000 that day.

One of the best days at the footy I have ever had, great game of footy, great crowd, great result. Good times.

The Round 7 weekend bumper crowds continue:

Manly v Souths - 20,510

I make that 86,742 people at the first three R7 games.

As you say Toddye, good times!

We really should enjoy this.

Another big crowd tonight in Wellington (NZ) for the Warriors v Bulldogs.

And you can see why, when the Auckland based team run out in a very Wellington looking Black/Yellow uniform, great way to really get the locals behind them.

Not too mention looking very competitive (even dominant) in the first 40.

Great ground with good atmosphere in a beautiful city (according to my daughter).

If Warriors could maintain their effort and concentration for the full 80 minutes they'd be competing for top 8.

As it is ... ... ...
