A magnificent rendition of our anthem in the Bar after the game today led by an adopted Hunslet lad Kenny Sykes, brought the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up. Its on days like this that make it so worthwhile to be a Hunslet fan, a great performance on the field, some fine rugby and a team spirit from the old Parkside days, great to see all the old Hunslet/York players from 40 years ago, well done to everyone for organising the re-union.

Well ?.

it's been associated with Hunslet since the 1890's, and nobody really knows when it was started. However, when the crowd started singing, it brought tears to your eyes and Hunslet ALWAYS went on to win with that song. It set the hairs on the back of the players heads tingling.

Well, watched both vids, nice to really see from the Sky sports one that the Whinos are not the history of RL,in Leeds but still not sure why a shanty sailors song ends up as an RL anthem.

Anyhow well done again on today's game, cannot fault your team on that showing.

Leigh for us on Sunday, hopefully half their team won't want to keep playing for nought, shocking state to get in time and time again.

History here

Not 100% accurate. The headquarters of Hunslet in 1892 was either the Anchor or george IV.

Also, I believe I told harry Jepson about the song appearing after the 1892 final, but it was from a newspaper article, surmising that fact. Not necessarily true.
