Warea-Hargreaves sent off!

6 posts in this topic

There's been comments on here recently that refs seem to have forgotten the've got the power to send people to the sin bin for 10 minutes or even to send a player or players off.

Don't know if refs have been reminded about this power but today Matt Ceccin sent Jared Warea-Hargreaves off for his hit on big George Rose's head in a tackle during the Rooster game against Manly at Brookvale.

In my opinion Warea-Hargreaves' reputation counted against him on this one.  The high shot that Friend put in earlier in the match was worse but was only put on report.

Whether he decides to plead guilty or contest the case his reputation will count against him. It will see he misses a fair number of games. Apparently 5 games if he pleads guilty, seven if he contests it and is found guilty.

Warea-Hargreaves is  on Reckless Tackle Grade 1, whereas Friend is on Careless Tackle Grade 1.

Jake Friend won't miss any games if he pleads guilty as he has a cleaner record.

Guilty plea, so he got 5 game suspension.

That fair?

I thought it was a 'bad one' but, despite his 'previous', a five match suspension seems a bit excessive.

Going off on a slight tangent, although there are dozens of 'big guys' in the NRL, JWH seems to have an intimidatory edge that most players - regardless of their size - just don't have.

Yes, two big guys involved here - both big in different ways!

I guess the judiciary were caught in the irresistible force paradox and so reacted strongly.

Question: "What happens when an unstoppable force  meets an immovable object?"

Answer:  "He get's a five match suspension!"
