what typical things do "non fans" say to you

I met a multi-billionaire yesterday.

I showed him the game and he loved it. He actually wrote out a £3bn cheque for the RFL but tore it up when he heard that Leigh might not be able to make it into Super League.

That's a shame that the RFL could have done with the £3bn, ring them and they will let Leigh in for that money, they let Widnes in for much less.

I'm taking a Croat, an Austrian and a Greek to the Magic Weekend, none of them have ever seen a game of RL.

I'll let you know how I get on.

I'm hoping the answer is "drunkenly."

These people seem like they were hardly following the game at all.

There's only ever two teams involved at any given point during a game.

think they were talking bout wigan leeds and warrington as sl contenders, a lot of these people just hear the names and the results, suppose wakefield or cas winning the cc at wembley are long gone memories even for their parents

It's supposed to be my stag do, chief, so I'll be rather disappointed otherwise!

With dual registration, there can be up to four.

Had a good one today:

"Bet you're looking forward to the Lions tour aren't you"

Not really love, no (but I smiled and nodded out of politeness).

July 28th?

I suppose it's not really a tour, but any trip outside Fev must be an adventure. Even if it is only Swinton. ;)

If that was from a Football fan, ask them if they're looking forward to the Superbowl, 'cause that's 'Football', according to a large number of people in the world.

Haha, yes.  I believe that we will be using one of these new fangled "horseless carriages" too.

With loan signings we could have an infinite number of monkeys.

Bloke at work is/was a Scarborough football fan.....so he now has a link to RL via the Fev grandstands.

Anyway, I think his major gripe with RL is blow-out scores.

But as a typical Yorkshireman - a blow-out score to him is 26 - 12!!

He doesn't believe a salary cap can work properly in RL nor is it time to bring in goal line or any other technology in football a la rugby as it will stop the game too much.

Sounds like those stands had some sort of "flatcap" contamination

Over here in foreign French land I tend to get the "jeu a treize" thing quite a lot, with a dollop of "why don't you watch proper rugby", and a side serving of "its the rugby championship of the Languedoc Rousillon".  The latter of these it is just about impossible to argue against.

I find that my customers, many of whom are retired UK expats, are very open to League, with a goodly proportion of them going to games at the Dragons or their local clubs.
