Doing her bit to try get the France based World Cup fixtures broadcast on the French equivalent of the BBC. Good luck to her.

Very mixed feelings about this. If she succeeds in getting matches shown, I'll be very pleased for the game and the tournament, but still...

She runs a legal party and stays within the law so we just have to practice what we preach and remain an inclusive sport.

You can't pick and choose who your supporters are no matter how distasteful.

I know, John, and maybe it is hypocritical, but that's my gut reaction. Imagine if Enoch Powell had been a life-long Loiners fan, eh?

She can be a fan of league but league doesn't have to be a fan of hers or her party.

Does NF mean the same thing in France as it used to do here? If so we can do without supporters like this.

She's not NF, she's FN (different word order in French).

I'm not sure that the old FN was the same as the British FN. It was certainly a lot bigger for one thing but the Marine Le Pen is more "respectable" than her father who ran the party before her.

I'm sure that there is much about her policies that many on her will take issue with with but she isn't the equivalent of the National Front over here.

Extremist parties in France (both right and left) tend to sit inside of the 'acceptable political spectrum' and are seen as 'normal' parties - although that doesn't mean they have fewer opponents (I recall getting tear gassed when I was on an anti-fascist march when I lived in Lyon - I had no idea we were trying to start another revolution, but the CRS obviously did).

Obviously in this country, the NF/BNP and the Socialist Worker/Communists tend to sit as outsiders to the political scene.

Not wanting to go too far off topic, it is the admittance of UKIP into our political cabal that has created their sudden rise in popularity.

It is a disgrace the last wc in France was on Internet tv, with both games big chance of sell out simply put again it does make the continued Vichy talk happen. Let's compare the aussie Nbl(basketball) has a regular tv deal on free to air tv and has same attendances as ffr13. Being smoking hot may help get her noticed and game.

Now this is what sport has to contend with in France it is easy to see why a tv deal with Toulouse in superleague is near impossible.

Quite.

France is quite different from the UK politically, there are still plenty of old school Communists about for example. These days I would say the FN in France is akin to UKIP here, although as with UKIP there will be those to the right fringe of the party who can be extreme in their views.

Just to be clear, this is Marion Le Pen, not Marine Le Pen.

And they're not a pleasant bunch at all.

the BNP are a legal party. I want nowt to do with them either.

Whether she supports RL or not, I don't care. I wouldn't want anything to do with her, her father or her party.

She's vile.

Good post and accurate. She and her old man are still unpleasant souls.

Fascist or 'fascist lite' no matter how you dress it up is still a divisive, racist and jaundiced point of view and should be opposed at all costs.  Not the sort of fans I would like to see at RL games.

It doesn't matter what your political views are, anybody should be welcome to go and watch a game of RL.

It does though. I don't want far right people at RL games. Given RLs history of black players, how could they attend and not feel hypocrites?

I don't mean everyone at RL games should hold the same viewpoint but certain views are clearly not at ease with an inclusive game like RL. Unless perhaps they look at the game and it changes their view.
