Losing the Toss

Again, not what was asked.

Actually l thought l had answered the question. The winner of the toss chooses to receive, inevitably plays uphill and the kickers, as they lost the toss are obligated to kick, invariably downhill.

No, the question was ......

You lose the toss, your opponents choose ends ... you have to kick off, don't you ?

You don't get to choose whether to kick or receive.

You can't choose to receive, specifically. You can choose to choose ends or you can choose to kick-off.

christopher will be along shortly to tell us how Kevin Sinfield has got the highest toss win ratio of any captain in the history of the game.

That would look nice engraved on that great big statue when it's built.....

By choosing which end though, aren't you by implication, choosing to receive?

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm no - it's a consequence of choosing ends. You can't choose ends and then choose to kick-off. It's not a choice - you're stuck with receiving, albeit that's what you might want to do.

But we're splitting hairs................

This sort of misogynistic thinking was past its sell-by-date in the 70s.

Griff comes across as an accomplished tosser in this thread.

He's certainly seems experienced in this matter.
