Best Exiles Team That Never Was

20 posts in this topic

Seen a few posters saying that the Exiles concept would have been better had it come along earlier when the overseas talent were of better quality.

So, out of interest, what year do people think would have had the best Exiles team if there was one?

Just a stab, I'm going to say 2005 (because thats when Hull had their best overseas players!) but I'm sure someone will post a better one once I've thought about it!

Shontayne Hape, Andrew Duneman, Ali Lauititi, Brad Myers, Maurie Fa'asavalu, Willie Talau etc. also pushing for that squad that year.

doesn't matter- you cant just put a bunch of talented players together, coach them for a week then expect quality rl-it doesn't work like that

The exiles side is too old and always will because of the fact they only come over when they are mostly at back end of career there was about 8 over 30+ last night old farts

Yet 1 of the players of the match was a 39 year old as long as the exiles continue to remain competitive and hav that will to win then its not a problem for me wether there 21 or 31

Thank you for being the only person to actually talk about what the thread was about!

Can those that want to have a b*tch and moan about the Exiles concept do it on one if the many other threads!

4. Adam Mogg

5. Pat Richards

6. Trent Barrett

I was just looking through 2007 for the Trent Barratt factor!

May check out 2001 and see if I can trump ya.

Was that Michael Smith at Christmas or mid-season?  And to think in 2001, we played Paul Wellens at centre, Mike Forshaw at hooker, Paul Johnson in the centres, Richard Horne on the wing and Kevin Sinfield at scrum half against the Aussies .

I couldn't find another prop!

Also, Horne was in the bench for GB in 2001. It was 2003 Waite put him on the wing. He was meant to start at 7 one game but Waite decided he didn't have enough loose forwards in the starting line up so put Foreshaw in at 7 alongside Paul Sculthorpe at 6, Kevin Sinfield at 9 and Farrell at Loose.

(I'm convinced if Waite tried hard enough, he could have had the 6-13 positions all as loose forwards!)

A couple of players out of position and a bit light weight off the bench but that team would take some beating.
