These days I find it more difficult to get my leg over when I've been cycling all day and it comes to getting off.

It's not my fault Radio 1 is utter sh*te. There's plenty of old crappy music too.

I’ve found myself doing more crosswords and puzzles recently – I’m becoming more obsessed with the codeword crosswords where you only get a few letters and have to guess the rest of the letters yourself. I realised it was quite fogeyish when I bought a book of them to do on the train a few weeks ago and saw an advert inside for stairlifts.

I listen to Radio 1 though, so I’m still cool honest…!

There was a news article I read last month (I think) about how the BBC management were unhappy that Radio 1 still had lots of listeners aged 45+ as that's way outside of their target audience of 16-25 year old listeners.  I did try to listen to Radio 1 last time I was out for a long drive and it was awful with the DJ trying his best to act cool and playing lots of dance music dross that wouldn't even make it to the charts if there were no other songs out there to buy.

Radio 1 has not been "cool" for me since Mark & Lard left the Radio 1 airwaves.  It hasn't been the same without a daily dose of Fat Harry White.

Yep. Radio 1's heyday was in the late 90s where you had Jo Wiley followed by Mark and Lard and Chris Moyles (he wasn't bad back then).

Radio 2 and the like aren't much better with their two thumbs up dad dancing approach to playing new stuff like that Daft Punk song. Just stick to the dreary Rod Stewart stuff.

Radio 2 gets better the later you listen; the drive time slot 5 - 7, has usually been ok. Between 7 and midnight there is a whole host of various, usually specialist, music styles. R & B (and I mean the "proper" R & B, standing for rhythm and blues, not the bland, mediocre ballad type stuff they refer to as R & B on radio 1 ) with Paul Jones. Jazz. Folk with Mark Radcliffe, etc. And also stuff that would have been familiar to listeners of the Light Programme back in the 50s such as Friday Night is Music Night and Desmond Carrington's show.

Personally I prefer to alternate between radio 4 (the Today Programme on the drive to work in the morning) and 6 Music for music consumption. Sometimes R4 and R4 extra between 6.30 and 7.30 in the evening there are some good comedy shows on (especially liking the re-runs of Round the Horn from the 60s on 4 Extra*).

* I suppose this can be added to the list of the OP.  ;)

As can feeling the need to explain what the 'R' and 'B' stand for in R'n'B. :D
