Dream Takers & Weekend Spoilers....

9 posts in this topic

When you've just said to your mate "we are still in this...." or "this could be the greatest comeback ever" or you start to think "this could be our year" - there are always those players over the years who get the ball in their hands and it all falls to pieces..... You are even haunted by them...

The starting 13 who have sent me home fed up more than once over the years and who just seemed to love playing to full potential when my team were in town:

1. Sam Tomkins

2. Keith Fielding

3. Paul Newlove

4. Keith Senior

5. John Atkinson

6. David Topliss

7. Shaun Edwards

8. Vincent Farrar

9. Kieron Cunningham

10. Kelvin Skerrett

11. Phil Lowe

12. Graham Eccles (strange but true!!)

13. Steve Norton

.... And probably the most annoying - Rob Burrow

I could also add Steele Retchless but that would give too much away......

I caught Paul's eye at the airport as we were flying out to Portugal a couple of years ago - my first thought was oooohh no! It's going to rain every day....

Is that the Paul Newlove, great player though he was, couldn't travel to Aus, I think because he had a fear of flying?

For me it was Richard Chapman, Barry Eaton, Graham Holroyd, Malcolm Alker, Sean Richardson, Jon Goddard, Gareth Price and Leroy Joe.

They always turned up against us in the lower leagues. Thorns in our sides.

Nowt wrong with that.  I share that fear.

Actually it's more falling out of the sky at 500mph that bothers me
