Red Willow

Cherries

14 posts in this topic

OK I have 2 cherry trees which are full of ripe cherries. I have made a cherry Frangipane and a pie but still have a washing up bowl full of cherries with more on the tree.

What else can I cook, there are only 2 of us in the house so it would be good if I could freeze the stuff.

I might have to go and buy some jars and turn it all into jam.

Well... you could make Jam, I suppose, or maybe this? :)

If you're planning on freezing them you need to do it asap to preserve the flavour.

And, with the price of cherries at the minute, I have to say I'm very jealous of you right now.

You could bottle them.

You could make cherry liqueurs.

Actually, my granddad used to make Cherry Brandy. Very good it was, too.

I tried freezing a few yesterday and that seems to have worked.

the cherry vodka is something I did consider.

I've recently finished a bottle of damson vodka, and very nice it was too.

don't worry if you leave them on the tree they will magically disappear just like mine did.
