Was the first round tie at Keighley the match when there was a tremendous thunderstorm, and Bob Hirst disappeared behind a big sheet of lightening just as he set off to run? By the time you could see again he was gone, just as if the lightening had vaporised him. I know that the ground was certainly very wet on the day of the cup tie, and Alan Edwards found the only bit of firm footing on the pitch to sidestep the Keighley Full Back and score the try that won the match.

When Geoff Marsh scored the first try of the game in the semi final at Post Office Road it was one of my greatest moments ever as a Dewsbury fan. Look at the names in the Saints side, half of them were living legends with kids like me who lived and breathed the game, and there we were, beating them.

Drat GFDU, you've set me off nostalgifying again.

Yes Steve, we had all weathers that day at Keighley (well can't be certain about fog, but we probably did) and I feel sure the game was televised.

In the semi we were not allowed to show how we could play, but the highlight was when 'Tank' Walker broke John Warlow's landlady"s brolly across his knee!

I think the redoubtable Kevin Osborne played at left centre with Vic Rawes on the wing.
