London Broncos owner David Hughes looks for new investment

14 posts in this topic

Good to have it confirmed that something is happening with a view to the long term and the club aren't just gonna roll over and die.

With P and R likely to come in and a number of players leaving we will need new players so investment would be good, hopefully he's successful.

Should the RFL invest directly? To me this seems the only way of making a success of London, in the absence of a sovereign wealth fund or eccentric millionaire looking to pump money in.

Is there the political appetite for the game to invest (more) central funds in London? Probably not. Would it benefit the wider game in the long run? Definitely.

It's a positive sign, everyone is now assuming that we will be going down when p and r is reintroduced, and this indicates some what a statement of intent, that we are not just going to accept it.

9 out of 12 posts in this thread deleted.  Must be a new record in terms of percentage of posts gone with the thread remaining unlocked!

Yes, this thread is allowable as it's a new, major point that would probably have been either lost in the old thread that's drifted or ignored by those who have given up on the thread.

Also, it's not acceptable to get personally abusive on this forum.  Behave, please.

I hope someone comes on board and throws some serious cash at it. Done the right way London could be massive, they just need a really savvy marketing guru.

Good luck to them, RL needs a strong London Team.

Well I just hope he can find another Koukash or one of his business partners from the Oil industry to put some big bucks in.

Good luck to them, hope they can get it right.  As others have said, they should and could be massive.

Could it be that P&R has given them the kick up the arris they needed?  Who would of thunk it?

It seems such a great opportunity for a "Koukash" to come in and improve the situation. The potential is huge for the Broncos but it's not profitable until the gates significantly increase. For gates to increase (a) the team must improve because no one wants to see poor performances - for the team to improve we need better players and arguable a better coach (B) the marketing strategy needs to improve - however it's a catch-22 because the product needs to be right before marketing.

DH has put out a call for new investors before with no results, and if we get the hammering that most people expect us to get tomorrow the same will apply. I find his statement rather worrying on second reading - the revival of talk of Gillingham (where the Chairman has apparently cooled on the idea anyway) is particularly disturbing.

He doesn't want new investors, he wants to be bought out. No way he'll let someone else have a major say in the running of the club unless he has no more money involved.

Hope to god  it happens, but cant see it somehow. Broncos need a Koukash..

He should approach someone like the Brisbane Bronco's, Souths or Melbourne, see if they fancy owning a RL side in London. Failing that, SL clubs could do what they were going to do with Bradford..

If only Sky would get involved, if for nothing other than they're promotional expertise. They'd certainly increase the average somewhat, and many more people in the capital would be aware of London RL than there are now. Northern club supporters would moan but it would be of benefit to have a strong uk club outside of the M62.

Lets hope David Hughes can find some new investers for the Broncos. I think union journalists will have a field day if London drop out of Super League.

aye, almost as big a field day as league journalists will have...but not quite as big.
