35 posts in this topic

There are just four weeks to go now before our annual Friday Night Lights event on 23rd August, when Skolars take on North Wales Crusaders in a crucial Kingstone Press Championship 1 fixture and try to secure a play-off place. Both teams recently met in the final of the Northern Rail Bowl when Crusaders edged a thrilling encounter that was even for large parts of the game. Both teams are fighting hard to secure a place in the Championship for 2014

I will be there. We have a coach coming down from Wrexham just for the game but many more Crusaders fans are staying the weekend for the final. Really looking forward to the game at Skolars.

KISS the York City Knights Supporters Club come every year, even though the title Friday Night Lights is misleading the floodlights at New River are so bad it is difficult to watch after half time.

Crusaders are packing a train with 50 fans stopping over for the weekend plus Roosters coach and the usual car travellers so there will be some fine Welsh voices there for the party!!  Really looking forward to the game.

Wonder if there'll be more Crusaders supporters at this game than there were Broncos at last Saturday's CC semi-final.

IM2 - could it be as high as 3k or more this year? Several reasons:

1/ Skolars are actively challenging for promotion as are Cru

2/ Cru are well supported

3/ Chances are that Wigan and Hull will tag a few extra fans on compared to previous seasons

Hoping to make it this year as not on holiday. Hoping also to make it this Sunday

Could you allocate a team to each finalist - pies get crusaders and ull get Skolars (based on team colours) might help encourage more to attend

Crusaders have a good relationship with Hull since our last game as a SL club in the Racecourse. We also got knocked out of the cup by Hull FC this year but had a great day out at their place. So I would suggest that Hull FC get the North Wales Crusaders.

good idea that, Wigan can give something back to the game in London after dealing such a body blow last week

Less Than A Month To Friday Night Lights!

30th July 2013

There are less than four weeks to go now before our annual Friday Night Lights event on 23rd August, when Skolars take on North Wales Crusaders in a crucial Kingstone Press Championship 1 fixture and try to secure a play-off place. Both teams recently met in the final of the Northern Rail Bowl when Crusaders edged a thrilling encounter that was even for large parts of the game. Both teams are fighting hard to secure a place in the Championship for 2014

Friday Night Lights is Skolars traditional eve of Challenge Cup Final event and this year the fixture is, once again,  to be televised live on Premier Sports. Every year Friday Night Lights attracts Rugby League supporters from all over the UK who are in London for the Tetley’s Challenge Cup Final on Saturday, which this year will be contested by Wigan Warriors and Hull FC.

The kick-off is set for 6.30pm but you can get here early and either watch the thriving minis section in action as they host a minis festival or some Masters Rugby League as a London side take on The Political Animals in their annual meeting. This event kicks off at 4pm which is shortly followed by the opening of our annual Real Ale Festival, which is located in the Olympic Suite under the main stand at our White Hart Lane ground.

This event always proves very popular and offers a good selection of Real Ales for you to try. To make the experience even better our sponsors Arriva buses are kindly laying on FREE courtesy buses to and from Wood Green Underground station, both before and after the game! There will be Skolars representatives at the underground station to direct you to this service and help get to the ground in plenty of time for the main event. The bus service will operate from 4.30pm -6.45pm to get you to the ground and will operate between 8pm-9.30pm to return you to Wood Green station. Just look for the signs directing you to the bus stop or ask one of the Skolars representatives that will be on hand as you exit the underground station.

This event is sure to be the perfect way to start your Challenge Cup weekend and with the game being televised this year we are all set to create the atmosphere that this fixture deserves. So don’t miss out on what is building up to be an exciting and enthralling evening. Come on down to White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre and support our 1st team whilst savouring the Real Ale and being entertained by the fantastic London Eclipse Cheerleaders!

Tickets are available on the night priced at £12 for adults and £6 concessions or you can save money and time by purchasing your tickets in advance from Skolars online ticket office. To do this just click here for adult tickets or here for concession tickets

Is there a beer list yet? And how much flexibility is there on the, frankly ridiculous, KO time of 6:30pm (if you work in London you're notn going to make it let alone anywhere else!).

Hoping to make it there this year. Planning to go to Trafalgar Square first for the World Cup event, then make our way to Skolars for the match and a beer or two.
