OK, just asked. As I posted previously, I am reasonably sympathetic to your views about the play offs. However, they are what they are, and whether you like it or not, they are what teams are judged by. In 30 years time, the winners in the record book will be the team that wins the play - offs.

... Fair point ,the wheel will turn and play offs will be forgotten ....I dread to think where Hunslet will be in 5 yrs , nevermind 30 ! For me Fev are Top team over the season and Hunslet are2nd worst , A BLACK Day for My Team ......

Did any Fev fans boycott like they said they would do when your prices came out?

dunno...

Don't give a monkies tbh. Wild horses wouldn't have kept me away. Spme might have stayed away.... their choice.

Sad day for Hunslet always tough getting relegated, on the bright side you could well bypass 5 teams who may get relegated next season in the restructuring. Whatever happens good luck.

As for Featherstone, well done on a wonderful achievement and in my opinion you are the Champions.

Featherstone are the best team in the Championship so stop the bickering bring on CC1 and discuss how and what Hunslet must do to become champions next season and bring back the feel good factor for you the fans.

I'm new but.....

Sheffield are the current champions? Yes

No one has won the 2013 grand final? Yes

So how are Faetherstone Rovers the championes as they were chanting today?

And as for finishing top 4 times on the trot, so you should, you spend enough to earn that tag of been near but yet so far.

The grand final winners will be the best in the championship, if that's Fev fair play bit until that's decided no one is!

So a team that wins a cup knockout is better than a team that competes and beats it's peers over a set number of games.?? Sorry not in my eyes, Featherstone have gone the distance and proved to be the least defeated team over that period.....Champions I think they call it.

Commiserations Hunslet - good luck for next season

I'll second that. I remember leaving your ground after you thrashed us in the first game of the season, one of your fans was gloating about the result of that game and I remember thinking then how petty that seemed. I certainly don't get any pleasure from seeing your misfortune.

Wouldn't it be nice for Hunslet if 1000 away fans visited the SLS every other week? I'm sure your directors would welcome them even if a few of them might be perceived as 'arrogant'. Anyway, best of luck for a quick return to the championship and I hope you go it alone. The rhinos are interested in themselves not Hunslet.

So then, it wasn't to be, was it?

I posted in midweek that even though we obviously had the toughest task, the those that handled the pressure best would survive. And - injuries, patching ups and painkilling injections notwithstanding - I'm not sure we handled it well at all yesterday ...

First 20 minutes - lost it first tackle after a penalty tap on the Featherstone 20; Moore knocked on when it looked easier to score; a silly and blatant obstruction under the shadow of the Featherstone posts. After half time a disallowed try from Mapals (any theories as to why?), and a dropped ball over the line. Staying close to Featherstone is hard enough as it is without blowing all those chances.

Having said that, I think all we could hope for was a bonus point and pray it would be enough ... as it turned out, it wouldn't have been anyway, with the other results all going the wrong way for us.

Congratulations to Barrow, Swinton and Keighley, and of course to Featherstone for coming in top of the pile again. As for us, it was one game too far in what seems to have been an interminable relegation battle. In fact in one sense it felt last night (admittedly after a rather large tumbler of Bushmills) almost as if we'd finally been put out of our misery.

Give me a week or two and I'll be ready to see where the seemingly neverending trials, tribulations and, er, "challenges" of following Hunslet takes us next ...
