BARLA Lions en-route to meet the Australian Aboriginal

12 posts in this topic

The BARLA Great Britain Lions open age team embarked on their 17 day trip to Australia late last night Monday 26th August, to take part in a three match tour.

After arriving at Coffs Harbour on Wednesday, 28th August, the squad will have time to find their feet before taking on Coffs Harbour Comets on Saturday 30th.  The Coffs Harbour 18 will include Preston Campbell, the former Indigenous Australian Rugby League player, who played for the Gold Coast Titans, Cronulla Sutherland, and in the Grand Final winning Penrith Panthers side. Campbell won the most prestigious individual award in the ARL when he was named the Dally M player of the year in 2001, beating Andrews Johns by one vote

A fixture change for the second game means the Lions will face the Australian Aboriginals at Armidale, on Tuesday 3rd September, and will hope to retain the Perpetual Trophy they currently hold after their 2004 test victory over the Lions, in Australia in 2004.

Let's start this thread again shall we?  This forum is down to a fraction of it's former glory due to the persistent petty bickering about the summer and winter parts of the game.

I think we're at the point where our tolerance has gone.  I'll have a chat with John Drake about what to do with this place and its moderation.

unfortunately it wasn't what I'd hoped. I think I'll channel my energies elsewhere.

Ckn

That sounds like some form of censorship!

Whats the point of a forum if you cant express your views n wind a few folk up in the process!

Or do we all have to dance to the same tune?

Nope, not censorship, just stopping threads being derailed repeatedly.  I've had too many messages from people who used to post a lot on here that have decided to give up posting because of the wind-up merchants ruining threads.  For example, I deleted 13 posts from this thread earlier today, not a single one was on the original subject.  What right do people have to ruin a forum simply because they want to wind up people.

Light-touch moderation, as we try to do on this forum, comes with consequences.  We expect people to self-moderate.  If they refuse to self-moderate then they have few complaints when they get PMs from a moderator warning them about their future conduct or even banning them.

Power ###### springs to mind!

As an exercise, please go through every page in this sub-forum since it was created and see how many threads I've moderated.

I'll help you... the answer is two.  This one and one other back in 2010.  If that's power crazy then I really need to relax a bit more. :P

(it's easy when I can look back at the logs and see the stats ;))
