Stadium Names - Anything Goes

I thought The Jungle name change was part of a sponsorship? We now need those of a twisted nature to link several possible stadium sponsorships to current stadium names to come up with the best or worst they can think of.

I can understand Mend A Hose Stadium but why include the name of a long gone sponsor? Still, he who pays the piper and all that.

I do think some things are just not worth the money for a club.

I'm loathe to criticise any sponsor who gets involved in our game, but I'm not a fan of this tbh.

Everyone will still call it Wheldon Road as they always have done, itll only be called that on the radio, on TV and in the press - oh hang on a minute....

Nope, nothing is sacred anymore.

It's ok for a fan of a club with a sugar daddy to say that. Any sponsorship brought in to self funding clubs is to be applauded.

Didn't see a thread like this when Wakey changed their ground name year after year.

To be fair Wakey did ditch the old name before they took the money for the new one.

I honestly don't get what's in it for the sponsor. How many people are there with a pressing need to mend their hose?

How much does a sponsor benefit from sponsoring a shirt or stadium?

I understand they get corporate facilities on match days but does this bring in enough additional business?

There cannot be many in the crowd who are looking for a company to repair their hydraulic hoses.

Kingston Communications have a virtual monopoly on telephone users in the Hull area but as a council majority owned company they still sponsor the KC stadium. In effect the council are sponsoring themselves in an area where they have little competition.

I thought the council had flogged it off and it was now private.

No clubs are self funding, "sugar daddies" are just sponsors.

I just get the missus to darn mine. It's a lost art and you do need one of those mushroom things.

But I didn't realise kilts were big in Castleford, http://www.thescotlandkiltcompany.co.uk/kilt-socks

Why doesn't Kenny wear one?

With Walkers no longer holding the naming rights for the home of Leicester City, a tie in with Wigan sounds too good an opportunity to miss.
