Haven local dialect?

Recommended Posts

Did anyone else apart from me engage the Haven locals in a bit of banter?

Two or three times one local fan spoke to me, but for the life of me, I couldn't understand a single word he was saying. Maybe he was gabbing in broad Cumbrianese or whatever.

Last time this kind of thing happened to me was when a Scotsman was rabbiting on in his thick Glasgow twang and as far as I was concerned he might as well have been from deepest Siberia.

I can't tell what Dave Arnold says half the time & he's only from Pendlebury

Aye, they used to say Pendlebury folk had a different twang than Swinton folk and Cliftonians even had their own phrase book for 'foreign' visitors and missionaries.
