NEW FLOODLIGHTS

55 posts in this topic

In Keith Nutter’s column in today’s EM, he states that the club are hoping to use the floodlights which have been taken down from the all weather pitch. Gotta be good news this ?

Is this the pitch at the Park Leisure Centre ?

Correct

We are carrying out a review of the state of the lights and a lux level plan to ensure they are up to the requirement.

will this mean using the existing stanchions and attaching the light fittings to them then? I take it new cabling would still be needed along with a new main control unit etc ??

If so that must be costing far less than £100 000 that was quoted.

This really is potentially fantastic news for the club, very well done to everyone who has been involved in saving the club a small fortune.

We have 4 stanchions and more than enough 2000w lamps but following the lux level review we may need another stanchion. I am already in talks to obtain another stanchion.

The control units have had some small damage when they were dismantled ( not my company) so a few replacement parts required.

Hopefully there should be enough already in the coffers to complete the civils the new cabling and erection of the stanchions.

I will up date as we progress.

This is fantastic news if it all works out , well done all concerned and i wonder if there's any money left in the  coffers after buying and fitting lights would this go too ground improvements  or could it be used too tempt better players so increase gate revenue buy winning more games .

Just a quick up date to let everyone know that people are working hard behind the scenes on lighting calculations and designs. As soon as we have the info I will update all.

We have finally been given the nod that the second hand floodlights from the all weather pitch in Barrow Park will provide the Lux levels required. There is still a requirement for a fifth column and a quotation has been obtained.

I have forwarded the quotation from Agrilek for supplying the fifth column and erecting the new lights which includes civil works ,cabling and electrical works to the original switch gear.

From obtaining the lights we have saved approximately £30k from the original quotation so still work to do to raise the remaining cash required but there is now light at the end of the tunnel (sorry about the pun).

I am sure the BoD will advise when the funds are all raised and hopefully the lights will be erected before the December 2014 deadline.  :D

I'm sure the board Would of acquired more quotes. This seems very high on just putting the lights in. I have experience in this field and would very much doubt it would be anywhere near that figure personally.

The £100k wasn't just to install the lights, it was also to purchase the lights which don't  come cheap id have thought.

barrow should have got you to quote for it, there is still time.

The quote included lighting design , provision of new columns and heads/upgrading the original switch board, new ducting and cabling around the pitch and up to the distribution board, design of the base for the columns, removal of the original columns, excavation, disposal, concreting, re building of the pitch wall, craneage, together with commissioning and certification.

If you or anyone else have the qualifications or you can obtain a cheaper quotation then I am certain the club will be all ears.
