Unfortunately there really aren't many players out there for anyone to recruit. Experience is what you seem to need in your squad, however you can probably count the number of available players who'd provide you with that on one hand. I did think you'd snap up a few of Hunslet's older heads, but they moved very quickly to secure their best players.

Don't think we need to panic yet, the league won't start until next March, understand a lot is going on

behind the scenes & we maybe need to be careful what we wish for - experience fine, but as Andy Acko

would say, journey men here for an easy life - maybe not..

Think its a given that we will be a young side in 2014, but those young lads who have never let us

down with Haynsey, Ford, Lee, Morrison, Freer & Aldous etc who have played regularly at a higher level

will make a very good, keen, hungry side.

Heard a rumour Hull FC are after Jack Aldous, but understand he wants to stay & have another

year with us & then see what his options are - hope that's the case - top player, top lad

So lets all keep the faith

Just need a few experienced heads to go with the promising youngsters. Hull are after Aldous? No disrespect to the lad but he's a tad too small to play prop at a higher level, although if he were a foot taller and a few stone heavier he would be lining up against the Australians in a couple of weeks time as you can't fault the lads effort

Can't argue with that RE: Aldous. He was born the way he was born. I always thought his size and work rate warranted a tryout at Loose, or even Hooker if he got his pace up abit. Lad can handle a ball, he can tackle anyone and when he gets the chance, his finishing has a certain determination about it.

Benn & Luke confirmed in Press today & mention of the Jason Golden twitter, pretty sure

that will become definate shortly.

Very happy with them 3 - don't know a lot about Luke, but very impressed with Benn last time

round, he was outstanding in the Toulouse away monsoon win & if we can keep Jason fit I'm

sure he will repay us big time.

Noticed Big Ryan played 22 times for Crusaders last season in a team winning the

league we are going to be in....

Have seen Ben Crane play many times. Tough tackling back row forward who also is an excellent line runner. Ben scored every point in the Yorkshire cup final when he was 16 years for his team in the 14-4 victory over Hunslet Warriors (2 trys and 3 goals). Went on to play For Hull FC academy and Hull FC reserves.

Extreamly unlucky to be released by Hull last year as he was one of the standout players for the Under 20's and will be a major asset to this York team

Glad to hear the Hardcastle's are on their way. Was discussing Ben with JG a while ago and he said that he had definitly signed for Gateshead for 2014 - the little fibber !!

For those with short memories, Ryan MacDonald played very well for the NW Crusaders against us in last pre-season. He has an ability to rattle and attract players in allowing others to exploit gaps - nowt wrong with giving him a season ( and I'm no 'journeyman' fan !! ). And he's a real crowd pleaser... you wanted some atmosphere......

Pretty sure Ben Crane was down here for a short while this season trying to

earn a contract but nothing came of it
