We the undersigned would like to express our concern for the future of our club SHEFFIELD Eagles.   It’s taken 13 years for Mark Aston and his team to recover from being disbanded to where we are today the current CHAMPIONS of the Championship League.   He’s worked tirelessly within the community to encourage young people to be involved in the game, some of which have already gone on to play in our first team.  Sheffield prides itself on being a City of Sports and now Sheffield Eagles are asking the council to ensure their future is in Sheffield and not in doubt.   We would like the council to reassure us that this work has not been in vain and to keep Sheffield Eagles in SHEFFIELD.  We are probably the most successful team that Sheffield has had in recent years.

We want the council to help the Sheffield Eagles remain in Sheffield by helping with funding's, like they have offered to help the athletics relocate now the Don Valley Stadium is to be demolished.

Purely out of interest and not in an attempt to troll, what happened to the money gained from sale of Station Road?

£995,000 the club got, when already £1.2m in debt. Then add up the number of houses on the site & take into account what they sold for, and do the maths. I've been told all sorts believe me, much from impeccable witnesses. But what the hell. It's gone. Thieves & vagabonds as one gentleman said at the Lancastrian Hall in 1992. Like u rightly say Mark, no one gave a toss about us back then, notably Leigh, Salford & Wigan who voted against our re-election to the RFL after we went bust. All 3 under new management so not slagging current owners off btw.

So Steve, it wasn't only our friends and neighbours, the Pinks who tried to stab us in the back all those years ago? Well, perhaps that old saying about 'what goes around, comes around' might eventually be applied - if you get my drift - or am I being obtuse?

Goooonnnnnnnnnnnnn Sean, on 17 Sept 2013 - 4:11 PM, said:snapback.png

It's only thanks to the Batley BoD and supportive fan base that we have such an excellent and constantly improving ground.

As far as I know we have had little/no support from Kirklees Council so it's difficult to understand how any club could expect a ground to be provided for them. Although this has happened for Donny/Leigh/Swinton.

Not correct on our account - no ground provided for us we simply rent LSV

A post on the Batley forum on their 'Keep Sheffield Eagles in Sheffield' thread, with my response
