England v Italy - Live Score Updates

Yes, clearly this means the World Cup is over promotion-wise.

We should have played some no-marks and beaten them 74-0.

That always pleases everyone on here.

Italy should be nowhere near this competition in the first place.

At this rate they'll have put a dampened on our prospects, and could beat Wales, and to what end - some lads miss a bit of beach of time while no one in Italy is aware or cares?

It's a FARCE!

A spine of

Tomkins

Widdop

Chase

Roby/McIllorum

O'Loughlin

Means he's trying to shoehorn Sinfield into a position in which he isn't better than those listed.

That's ok then. As long as we can get a team in to make Mrs Minichello happy her boys get to play together.

Their success or otherwise is as meaningless as if we had entered an Australian B team, probably more so.

This is the problem with picking a captain a year before the tournament starts!

The fan base would be moaning if we'd beaten any other team by a big score.

They'd moan if the players put in their 110% and got crocked as a result.

They can now moan that Italy have heritage players and are too good.

They would moan if Italy only selected Italians and lost every match 110-0.

Personally, I think it's a wake-up call to England and Wales.  The same as France got against the USA.

These heritage-backed teams are dangerous.  It's not only Australia and New Zealand we have to watch out for.

I think that makes it all more interesting.

No excuse for losing with a team as strong as England. The Knights would've done a better job, we should swap coaches.

All the world cup hype smashed to bits in 80 minutes.

Possibly the worst result in England RL history.

The Aussies will murder us next week.

Positives:

-Historic first win for Italy in a major international

-Another Euro nation can give England a game

-The WC games involving Italy have extra spice

-England have had a wake up call

-The threat to Wales is now visible

Seriously this will have no baring on next weeks performance. Will provide a huge kick up the backside wich will do no harm. Friendlies are never a good barometer. Still disapointing however.

So apart from the poor result what was the game like.  Where England totally poor or where Italy surprising good.  Defence poor or Italy got really good running lines, etc etc....   Irrespective of whether some people think that Italy should not have picked the players they did are the Italian team with its NFL players, some of whom played in GF, going to be a real threat to get to later stages of the competition.

The only person needing a kick up the backside is MacNamara

But he is oblivious

Problem is, if we're hoping to sell out more matches, this loss - and the performance too from what I gather - will not encourage people to invest in tickets.  Even if England had lost, they needed to perform well and they didn't.

Apparently some England fans were booing and rather angry.  That doesn't auger well does it?
