Just read that Simon Grix has pulled out as he needs surgery. Disappointing that.

Very. Gutted about that, was looking forward to seeing him play

Not able to get to Cardiff so this is my first game of the world cup...  really looking forward it but have no idea about there relative strengths except to say that I think I be looking for a Fiji win for no rational reason....

Also looking forward to having a hotpot pie.. not had one for a while since moving across to Yorkshire... well I hope they do hotpot pie's or something close...

They do a rather excellent cottage pie for £2. Meat and potato pies are very good as well, and they do peas as well! Not that that's the only reason I'm a frequent visitor to Spotland for both sports!

Looking forward to this.  In the willbuts stand.  The Irish will need that famous team spirit and a lot of team work as Fiji look stronger on paper. Hoping for a close hard fought game 22-20 and don't mind for which team that would be.

Fiji look a really dangerous side to me. Ireland amazed me at the last World Cup - I will never forget that night in Parra - but surely Fiji will be too big and strong. Should be an amazing occasion.

Was that the Ireland v Tonga match? Really enjoyed that one.

Wouldn't write Ireland off ,

losing Simon Grix is a loss

however they have a good smattering of SL - NRL players in the Squad and their kicking game will be crucial ( Marc Sneyd for positional kicking - Pat Richards for Conversions ) .

I guessing Ireland will try to dictate play territorially  & Fiji will try to score from their 10 yard line .

That was the very first game if Rugby League that I watched, I accidentally stumbled accross it on the bbc sport website, it was a cracking game, been hooked since.

The Tongans were all trying to outdo each other in who could make the biggest tackle. Ireland were much better than I expected in that match, too.

Some of the Tongan shoulder charges were brutal., I just remember being absolutely blown away by the skill and power on show, I was literally speechless. That match stayed on the BBC website for a good year after the tournament, was gutted when they removed it :(

This time around the Tongans have added Konrad Hurrell!
