While I agree he's untried at senior pro level John has had a good grounding at Warrington and Leeds under some of the best coaches in the British game over recent years. He's not unfamiliar with coaching seniors either albeit in the amateur game where he was a successful coach with Queens ARLFC. Credit to Rovers for giving him his chance and I'm pretty confident he'll do the job.

He is unproven as a successful coach at any level was my point, man management is a key factor at our level and next year will make or break him imo due to Fevs rightfully high expectations

I wouldn't have Paul in charge at Leigh, he was out coached by Powell Kerr and Aston whenever it mattered and plays some very boring RL

This year is a big one for Paul also, he has been given the ammunition so no hiding places

Kerr ?

Dunno about "whenever it mattered" - I thought they won a Cup or summat which a lot of clubs didn't manage.

No-one raised any eyebrows when Sean Long was appointed. Why? Because he is a legend in the game as a former player; But not as a coach! In fact very few great players have made great coaches, and more have tried and failed than made a success of the job.

Sean Long took on a consistent experienced team and just tweaked a few things next season will be totally different If JB had took over the team when SL came in I also think the outcome would of been the same
