Opening Ceremony itself - 'Blanked' by the BBC

74 posts in this topic

Knew this would happen - squeezing just a 30-min build-up into the start of programme.

Means that we don't get to see the opening ceremony itself and the aura of a big occasion that would present on national telly.

Anyway - still excited for the match itself/matches themselves.

:)

agree with this, TBH I don't see the point of dancers etc. Get some kids to play two games across the pitch. Get someone to make a short speech declaring it open - national anthems - end of.

Hi all, first post but been reading for a while, just so dismayed by the coverage from the bbc,no coverage of the opening ceremony at all,ok the F1 qualifiers were on but they didn't even give the option of watching it with the red button!moto GP was on instead,I think they class RL in the same bracket as say Hockey or netball!

I just don't see the point. I didn't see the point of the giant sumo wrestlers at the 1995 World Cup. I didn't see the point of the Olympics Opening Ceremony - or Closing Ceremony for that matter, it's sport, ger on wi't'game!

The difference between those who came to the game and the miserable gits who didn't

I'd have liked to have gone, but it's a five hour drive from Leeds. I also looked at staying Friday at my daughters at Salisbury and getting the train to Cardiff, the last time I travelled to my daughter's be train, in July, the train I caught to Bristol from Salisbury terminated at Cardiff, but for some reason not on Saturday October 26th.

Is what? Is this an opening day quiz?

the opening ceremony was awful. no one clapped. no one cheered, no one was proud, no one liked it. indeed lots of people walked out.

in other words, it was just what the miserable northern flat cappears wanted.

i am lying, IT WAS BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well there were 15 for a start, grumpy.

Nope, 14 floating golf balls and a blow up globe if you want to be pedantic, all the same

You are danny Boyle and I claim my five pounds

For crying out loud man this is supposed to be the biggest competition in the sport:the ultimate coming together of the rugby league family it's supposed to be a celebration

Well all of us thought it was fantastic. Great atmosphere, loads of dancers, pyrotechnics, music, dancers suspended from a floating globe, flashbacks on the big screens, choirs.

I don't really know what people want.

Obviously I'm disappointed that BBC didn't show it, but to just criticise the opening for the sake of it is a bit rich.
