I don't take sugar in my coffee, but I suspect that Coca Cola has 8 times more sugar in it than most cups of coffee. Sugar is said to be really bad for us.

A cup of coffee has more honest journalism in it than the Daily Mail.

My urine has more honest journalism in it than the Daily Mail.

Daily Mail journalist Stephen Wright has written about the Lawrence case, both before and subsequent to the prosecution. He was awarded a Special Campaign Award as part of the 2012 Paul Foot Award for his work in the Lawrence case.[

Disclaimer: I don't buy the Daily Mail, I don't read the Daily Mail.  I merely post links to it to increase the pulse- rate of deep-fried Mars bar eating secessionists.

John, in some ways that makes it worse; it shows they are capable of good quality journalism when they put their mind to it. It makes me think that when they produce their reams of absolute drivel that they do it knowingly, and that in my eyes is just trolling.

I wonder how many who decry the mail, buy and believe the not at all tax efficient guardian.

and what pray if they do? Probably one of the least relevant of your largely irrelevant canon.

Why, pray, do you care? It's irrelevant.

Understood. I think, though, the view that most people get is via the on-line edition, which seems to carry more of the rabble-rousing stories, with their headlines with the seemingly random and gratuitous odd  WORD in upper case.  The paper itself, which I have read ( though never bought) in places like the Little Chef when I was a road warrior is nowhere near as bad.

its the stereotyping, though, by the loony left on here ( see, I can do stereotyping, too!) that I call into question.

To be fair, I know plenty of right-leaning people who also find the Mail's particular brand of loony right nonsense offensive. It's not just self-proclaimed lefties who think it's a CANCER (see, anyone can be a Mail headline writer) on British society.

The Guardian is bad for different reasons (tax avoidance, strange support for Nick Clegg etc), but it will never be anywhere near as loony as the Mail. One or two writers aside, it's not even that left wing these days… more centre right with occasional leftism in the opinion pieces.

it's not even that left wing these days

it has though, retained its unrelenting miserable demeanor and self-righteous indignation

Also to factor in: The popularity of The Mail , and as we all know, if something is popular, it can't be any good. Witness the forum's disdain of soccer, for example..and in some quarters of the forum, SuperLeague itself.

Success!

You can attack their party's social policies, you can point our the lunacy of present day neo-liberal economic orthodoxy, and you can even criticise St Margaret de Grantham, but nothing - nothing - provokes the fury of the hard-right more than having a go at their most treasured institution: The Daily Mail. :)

You seem to be reading a different thread. In this one, no one will admit to reading it.

I think your poor diet is finally having an effect. Not only do you not know your  hard right from your soft left  it now seems that you are having trouble finding your elbow.

There may be a reason: Writing in the online journal BMC Public Health, the researchers concluded: "The Scottish population seems to be living dangerously.

"Considering five major risk factors to health - cigarette smoking, heavy alcohol consumption, poor diet, physical inactivity, and overweight - nearly the whole adult population (97.5%) have at least one behavioural risk factor."   :scare:

Gotcha! (Oops, wrong one.)

See what I mean! It's only a newspaper, an extreme right-wing, alarmist and dishonest newspaper, but just a rag for all that.

There is no need to take criticism of it so much to heart. :P

Today's scores:

Daily Mail: 1,579,289    Scotland :0

Just about the same score as Scotland gets at its second most popular sport.

The sad thing is, it's also the predicted referendum result

Why anyone with any pretentions to be a RL supporter would buy, or read the Daily Mail is beyond me. Whatever your politics the Daily Mail is a terrible paper.
