Best Before Dates

11 posts in this topic

My wife and I are having a short break in Cornwall. The complimentary soap in the bathroom has a best before date on the package of 11/14.

I'm assuming that that means November 2014.

If it is American it could mean 14 November.

If I am still here on the 15 November should I risk using out of date soap?

That might well be applicable to the packaging rather than the product. Sometimes envelopes have a sell-by date because the sealing glue goes off.

I have a cupboard full of tinned food. I found a tin had  at the back that had a sell-by date that was over ten years old.

Have just come back from breakfast. The little packets of butter have " caution contains milk" on them.

If it hasn't started to sprout limbs then I reckon its OK.

That's usually my view with food products as well.
