First cousin marriage is widespread accross cultural and religious boundries from Peru to South Asia and is certainly not limited to Muslims.

It's not an Islam thing so much as a Pakistani thing. And no other group gets close to them in the frequency of these marriages (the majority of them are cousin marriages) plus uncle-niece marriages are very common as well.

You can also bet that if both the perpetrators and the victims were white, the EDL would have taken their drunken mob off to cause trouble somewhere else.

That's true. The EDL are not concerned with paedophilia per se, they are concerned with Islamism and some of the negative aspects of Muslim culture.

The UAF are concerned with white people and only white people being racist.

Yes, let's talk about the Roma and how well they will integrate without asking for a penny in welfare payments.

Apparently there are Welsh people in Bradford who fly the Welsh flag, support Welsh national sporting teams and continually flaunt their Welsh identity!

And pay all their taxes, spent a career working in public service for the community, has been invited to Sikh temple and will be attending a Diwali evening on Sunday.

And anyway, it was all ours in the first place.

Go on, try it again in English.

Your just a Paul Anka

Do you have a mirror?

Why is it that you think it so unimportant to communicate in correctly constructed, spelled and punctuated English?

Go on try it, I think it might aid your integration.

As I've said on here before, my wife is Kalderash Roma and none of her family are claimants, but don't let a cheap stereotype stop you making a point Wolford.

There's a difference between people who have literacy problems but make their best attempt, and indeed make an effort to remedy them, and those who seem to wallow in ignorance whilst diagnosing and dispensing prescriptions for society's ills.

Language is a cornerstone of civilisation and accurate communication the key to understanding.

Phil, it depresses me that prejuduce and open discrimination against not only Roma, but Sinti, Kale and other traveller communities continues to be seen as acceptable in large parts of Europe.

I have no problem's of any one coming from some third world dump hole/war zone coming over to the UK for a better life and the perk's of our system but they must integrate as part of the deal and I have seen some positive examples like the number of Turkish/Iranian's working/opening up excellent barber shop's and proper Cafe's/restaurant's.

But I still feel if we got to let in e.g. 200000 a year then we must see 400000 leave our shores for pastures new.

It is not too difficult to make some improvements in one's literacy. Learning a few basic rules helps, as do practise and repetition. Using spell check and grammar functions should also help a bit.

I doubt there's one group of people who cannot find at least one reason for hating or discriminating against any other random group of people, be it different ethnicities, races, religions or even sub-groups or the neighbouring village.

Anyone who thinks they "hate" or "dislike" another group of people intensely based on anything other than direct, first-hand experience rather than what they've heard from friends, read in the media or are simply prejudiced about really need to reflect that today and tomorrow are the 75th anniversary dates of Kristallnacht.

For those who don't really know anything about Kristallnacht, it's the point that many mark as the start of the true Holocaust in Germany.  Go on, read up on it and consider adding those people to those you remember on Remembrance Sunday.

When I was a child, my granddad (an ethnic Serb Yugoslav) caught me calling an asian guy a foul racist name (at the time I couldn't the difference between Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, muslim, hindu, sikh, jain or anyone else).  I'd heard the term from a friend about this new guy at school and just continued it.  After my granddad reddened my bum with a belt he gave me a short book on Kristallnact and told me to read it, once I did he told me about his time in a German PoW camp for eastern European soldiers and the abysmal treatment yet it still wasn't as bad as the treatment that the Jews received.  His view was very blunt, anyone who discriminates or mistreats anyone else for what they are deserves nothing but the utmost contempt, and that discrimination needs to be actively overturned through both direct confrontational opposition and education; one without the other is often not enough.  Since then, I've taken that attitude to heart and am quite blunt in my opposition to intolerance.

I have been asked why I haven't moderated this thread more closely, much of it comes from if I can turn around one person's intolerance, or at least blunt it, it's far more preferable to me than just hitting the ban or delete button and reinforcing that prejudice.

Apparently, we have 200,000  recent Roma immigrants. You can bet your life they claimed benefits and housing on arrival. Most probably still are ... I can't see how any of them will qualify for an £80,000 mortgage for an ex-council house.

Even if they are all now working, they will be taking jobs from British people and their non-anglophone offspring will be adding an additional drain on the state education system.

As a socialist, surely you should be behind the principle of protecting the lifestyles of indigenous British workers and the prospects of British children brought up in poorer-quality areas and schooled in classes where half the other kids can't speak English.

Maybe, I am quoting a stereotype idea about these people. I'll gladly retract it if the government can produce figures about how valuable these people are to the economy and social fabric of the country. So much so that we should wholeheartedly welcome as many as want to come over here. Somehow, I don't think even the Cameronspeak Propaganda Corporation would be barefaced enough to knock out that particular press release.

Good read about your grandfather, an excellent influence - you're lucky to have had him.

The problem with you not dealing with the racially prejudiced, whilst I see your strategy, is that some of them have not learnt in the many years that they've been here and the rest of us must endure their bile.

*facepalm*

On your last paragraph, why not turn it around?  Why not consider EVERYONE as a valuable member of society until they, individually, have proven worthy of an opposite view.  Do you have a house?  A mortgage?  How have you afforded it?  You live in a part of Britain that's considered by many south of Watford to be full of downtrodden ex-coalminer benefit scroungers.  Just because you've HEARD a stereotype doesn't mean you should be naive enough to believe it.
