I've played on and off since mid WotLk. Just heard about the new expansion and I'm rather intrigued.

I used to, gave up at level 70 with a Warrior and a Priest, bloody addictive, only started on the 10 day free trial after starting work somewhere everyone played it which rolled on for a good few years.

Good game, but I was rubbish!  Plus can't put the time in anymore, guys I used to work with thought nothing of putting in 40 or 50 hour weeks, was like having a 2nd job!

Yeh, I started the 10 day free trial (which is now unlimited) just to prove that I didn't like it. I got hooked when I left the troll starter zone and realised it was getting dark in the game as well, as it was around 8pm. The lanterns on the side of the roads were glowing and I was like "OHMYGOD THIS IS AMAZING"

Can we save space on the forum and combine this with the Dr Who thread?

Seeing as the two are completely unrelated, no?

I had a go at WoW with a friend a few years ago and found it ridiculously easy.  I then had a go solo-ing it and found it just as easy.  No challenge so gave up.  No point playing games if they don't challenge you.

On other MMOs though, I played EVE Online back when it was first released and got to know a couple of people quite well through there, one of them also had his own company and ended up giving me over £100,000 of consultancy work.  Who says sitting around playing computer games never gets you anywhere!  I actually resurrected my EVE account last month and found it just as addictive, not quite as easy to solo as it used to be though.

You've got the gladiator mounts then?

Gladiator mounts?  Did the flying mounts thingy, made the game even easier.  A blood elf shadow priest or Paladin is nigh on invulnerable in WoW if you play it even with half your attention.

You know, the mount you get for being the top arena player in your battlegroup.

People on the internet shouldn't throw stones.

Or something.

Agreed. How ironic (or is it moronic?) Larry and L'ang piped up first.

It's not my thing they're having fun on the internet, harmless fun at that; live and let virtual orks live.

One of my now former collegues used to write a "going out" piece for a magazine published in Leeds, he got so engrossed into WoW he started writing it based on the experiences of his friends, which worked a treat until they realised he went to print with pretty much anything they told him, they had several articiles of fun at his expense before he was busted.

Could have been career limiting when his real world boss found out, except his real life boss was part of the lads guild and the now former entertainmnets was one of the best equiped tanks on the server and key to any guild raids..................

Obviously as observed there's so many better things to do with your life than sink 20, 30, 40 perhaps even 50 hours a week into a game, but at least it keeps the geeks off the streets and out of trouble, so no real harm done eh?
