For anybody who:

1. Has lots of time AND

2. Is prepared to be 'adventurous' AND

3. 'Really, really' likes real ale

The Crown At Worthington (the outskirts of Standish) is around a 15-minute car journey from the DW. It's won a few CAMRA awards over the years.

Which of the above will you be visiting ?

Probably Berkley and Raven and then the Anvil up to leaving time for the game.

Better still is The Silver Tally in the same direction but closer to the Standish Motorway exit at Shevinton Moor.

We used to go to The Crown so often that we never even tried The Silver Tally. I used to go in, many years ago, when it was the Forester's.

just be careful with the staff at the Berkley, you might end up in a fight.

I don't see the Berkley mentioned in that report.

Totally different pub now.

The only resemblance is the address.

It's a shame that we didn't try it then. I no longer live in the area but I'll check it out when I'm back.

they were involved.

So were the Police but I don't think it means you can blame Sting.

We ended up in The Raven, staying there until we left for the match as the beer was good and it wasn't too crowded.

Good call, we went in pre-match.

The pub had been closed for a few years and re-opened about 12 months ago.

They've done a nice job.
