Match promotion

I have seen somewhere (on Rams forum I think) that Batley are asking fans for ideas to promote the Workington game. I have scoured our Official Site and also this forum but cannot find anything.

Is it someone being mischievous but are we really asking for fans thoughts?

Provided you have nothing better to do with your life than sit around twiddling your thumbs.

Quote from one of it's inventors  " ...we came across the word 'twitter', and it was just perfect. The definition was 'a short burst of inconsequential information,' and 'chirps from birds'. And that's exactly what the product was "   Nuff said. 8)

Don't worry, he said almost exactly the same thing about hula hoops.

Hmm! Not quite the same thing though BSJ - indulging in twitter you develop thumbs like popeye and/or arthritis, while using the hula hoop you can develop the sort of toned waistline such as is sported by my good self. What would you rather watch Holly Willoughby doing, twittering or doing hoola hooping ? Mind, it wouldn't have the same fascination watching piggys mate. :resent:

If you subscribe to Twitter GOR you aren't actually compelled to post (tweet) but can simply use it to see what everyone else is doing, receiving tweets from the Rams for example. Your thumbs will be in no danger and will be preserved for whatever purpose you prefer to use them.

GOR is a Luddite? Who would have thought.

Yep - maybe.  I helped install, maintained and ran computer and analyser systems in the NHS for over thirty years and felt like taking Enoch's hammer to them on numerous occasions - that doesn't mean I didn't fully embrace technology though. Maybe it's just me, but I do get quietly irritated when you socialise with people and they spent the entire time clutching their iphones texting and tweeting - I mean they might just as well take a bloody newspaper out. Watched three lads in the pub last week and they sat for over an hour with one drink, and didn't say a word to each other - I assume they must have been communicating by tweet. I reckon that by the year 2100, mankind (but not womankind I'm afraid) will have lost the power of speech, and will have developed extra thumbs .... the process has already started on the Wilton ;)

Whereas yours will be BSJ  - You'll wish you'd listened to me when you're struggling to get the champagne corks out. :onthequiet:

So an announcement from the club is put on a network where it will be seen by a minority of fans. I would have thought that any announcement whatever coming out of the club would be put firstly on the Official Site and also in all probability on this message board, the two places where I am sure the vast majority of fans look for their information.

I reckon you are right about the main website but l also think twitter is probably more popular than here. This forum is rather a niche site! My 21 year old would hardly ever use here to check on club updates!

I'm a bit surprised a rebel like you would be a supporter of twitter ZZ - what with being restricted to 140 characters an all. If the same limitations applied on here. you'd still be posting as DocM. ;)

I am not a twitter user for personal reasons, I was being helpful to another person who appeared to be at a loss and the link from the Ostrich site is a method of seeing the tweets. The main Batley website does not have this.

Which 140 characters are allowed to post on twitter?

So it does. Not being a user of twitter I assumed it meant add a friend. I simply pointed out a site which showed the enquirer how to see the information he required. Has life changed so much that now it is frowned upon to be helpful? Had you added your two pennath earlier I wouldn't have bothered
