i notice on the news this morning that a rugby league representitive has been invited to westminster along with union, football, tennis & cricket reps to talk about "spot fixing & betting"

There was that Donny player a few years ago wasn't there? That's the only one I can remember. Either there's not much of an issue or we're ###### at spotting it!

If fixing of in-play markets is happening in Championship football and Test cricket we'd be a bit dull to assume it's not happening at some level in rugby league.

Yay, we're in the big-5 when there may be a telling off.

*two thumbs up*

On BBC Breakfast this morning the meeting was introduced as involving the 'major sports' within the country and the purpose is to 'share good practice' so I'd say it's good to be in the Big Boys Club and we will have some good practice to share following on from our own little scandal a few years back.

We've no worries if they can't even spell "sport".

We hope it doesn't happen here, and perhaps it hasn't. But we know it has happened in the NRL (e.g. Ryan Tandy case) so its not an impossibility, although it'd be much harder to achieve in RL than in some other sports.

Tom Burgess dropped the ball at Odsal so often that I bet you could have got decent odds on him holding on to three successive passes or through three successive tackles.

The bookies have made a rod for their own backs offering odds on stupid things like the time of the first scrum.

Assuming that we're being monitored for suspicious betting patterns, I would imagine it would be hard to do at any significant level in our sport.

Every week I put £5 on "Gareth Hock to be a complete tool in the first 20 mins"

I got odds of 1/33 - the only weeks I lost were when he was banned

It's only really an issue in sports for which a lot of betting takes place, particularly in illicit markets. I don't think RL fits into either category, which isn't a case for complacency of course.

You would think so - and I have no idea what level of betting is 'normal' - but given that in soccer it seems to go all the way from Championship to semi-professional clearly it is a possibility.

A massive 15p a week win. Hope you saved it up for something nice :-)

I've never seen that market available. Who offers that?
