Bits of news & a roll call.....

90 posts in this topic

Just to check if there is anybody out there with any news or thoughts....

Looks like serious injuries are kicking in already, a few bits I have picked up on

from the RL papers this week:

Rhys Clarke has broken his leg & will miss Gateshead pre-season including game against us.

Think Thomas Coyle at Hunslet broke his leg/ankle in game at Fev, Marchy already out with badly strained ankle, Stuart Kain out with torn hamstring

Gloucester confirm they will play there home games at the Prince of Wales Stadium, think that's actually Cheltenham - as we go there twice post code is GL50 4RN - looks

like a running track type set up

Can confirm that All Golds ground is in Cheltenham and unfortunately it is an athletics stadium, but beggars can not be choosers.  There was talk of using a different ground this season, but problems have been resolved with the council which allow the club to run the bar and food outlets themselves this year.

We look forward to seeing you down in what by then will hopefully be a sunny Gloucestershire, and not the flooded mess we now have in some parts of the county.

Good stuff - we miss the June game at your place due to holidays, but coming down

for the 3rd of August game & actually stopping in Bourton on the Water for 3 nights,

looks a really nice place so hopefully get plenty of walking (and drinking) in.

Hi Col.

Yeah, still about but, like others, waiting for season to crank up.

Interviewed quite a number of the lads at the media morning and they're pretty confident.

Was going to Fev v Hunslet till I saw the weather.

If you want something to discuss - how about Sharlston Rovers, Thornhill Trojans and Hunslet Old Boys being left out of the Challenge Cup..  Hunslet OB Yorkshire Cup holders, Thornhill YC Runners up with a great Challenge Cup tradition inc beating 'pro' sides and Sharlston, arguably the best amateur side around !!

Is it a coincidence that they all still play winter RL ?

Noticed some names missing Andy when I saw the draw on the RFL website -

seems totally wrong to me & needs explaining

It's not rocket science if you follow the rather depressing shannigan's of rugby league politics regarding the exemption of shall we say certain more traditional amateur clubs from the elite Rfl cup comp. disappointing but not unsurprising with what's going on

Its all about the RFL FLEXING THEIR MUSCLES against BARLA So they take it out of the barla controlled teams

Hope this won't mean another change to Skolars away:

Championship One club London Skolars plan to lay an artificial pitch.

The company that controls the Skolars' White Hart Lane home in north London

want to install the 4G surface. The plan is to dig up the in-field and lay a state-of-the-art 4G pitch, which will be ready before the end of the season. It means the club will have to play some of their home games away from their current Harringey base. Possible options include using one of the facilities currently being used by London Broncos, who share The Hive with Barnet FC and train at the Conference club's former ground Underhill.

Other stuff:

Sounds like Jordan James - Welsh International prop - will not be joining Gloucester All Golds from Salford after all

On Fev board, sounds like Matty Nicholson has picked up a really bad knee injury at the weekend, all the best to him for a quick recovery

Think the size & quality of the Hunslet squad plus this can now put to bed any

stories of Hunslet having a lower players budget than us (and yes i am jealous):

Hunslet Hawks RLFC are delighted to announce that Liam Hood has signed

a 12 month contract with the club for 2014.

Veteran Wales international Jordan James is set to make a surprise Super League comeback with champions Wigan.

The 33-year-old prop forward joined the Warriors' coaching staff at the end of the World Cup and had agreed a two-year deal to play part-time rugby with Championship One club Gloucestershire All Golds. However, James asked Wigan coach Shaun Wane for another chance to play at the highest level and he was on Friday given a 12-month contract.

Couple of recent lottery winners HUNSLET 72 and PROGMAN struck a deal with Mr Hetherington over a couple of beers

at Headingley on Boxing Day that's how we got to sign Liam on but couldn't confirm till cheque cleared.

Rumour is Ryan B. is next to be swooped for by them wish every club had supporters like these.    :drinks::blum:

Yes this seasons Hunslet team will be made up entirely of signed Hunslet players with only the odd Rhino Youngster looking for experience making the odd appearance with so many good sponsors being attracted to the club by Hist the club has risen from the Ashes with aplomb and the people involved must be applauded. Will this bring back the supporters only time will tell but how can anyone doubt HISTs endeavours.

Dennis Tuffour has left Donny due to new work commitments, family stuff,

GT not ruling out an enquiry, but as he says if he cannot get to Donny training

he might not be able to get to our training - could do a a good job for us though
